Hey guys, I think something is definately not normal with my 3d mark scores. Im scoring 12900 on 3dmark 2001se and 3875 on 3dmark 2003. Here is my setup, all help is appreciated:

P4 530 3.0ghz with TT Spark 7+ fan 6000rpm
Asus P4C800-e dlx mobo
1 gig kingston hyperx PC-3200 ddr
radeon 9600 XT 128
2x WD Raptor 10000RPM Raid 0 SATA 36.4 gigs each
windows XP pro

WTF , ppl are scoring higher than me with half my ram and less CPU speeds. Is there something Im configuring wrong. Also should i be running turbo mode on my motherboard settings?

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with your scores...that's about right if you are running everything @ stock. You didn't mention if you had anything OC'd so I'll assume you didn't. Overclock your 9600. If that doesn't get you the score you want....volt mod it, improve the cooling and try again.

Welcome to XtremeSystems,

Turbo helps as well as tight ram timing.

Link to scores? are you overclocking?

Don't expect any scores way higher than that, 9600XT really isn't a number1 card.

can you return this 9600xt and buy a 9700 pro for a bit more? its almost twice as fast in games and will get ya like 16k marks too

Isn't that going from a newer card to an older one?

That ain't no upgrade! Just get a 9800 pro or XT instead, prices will drop soon.

Even better, get yourself one of the last generation cards like a Geforce 6800 or an Radeon x800 if you can afford it. ;)

That's about right for what you're running. If you wanted high FPS in 3D you should have gone with an A64 and a more powerful VC. I know the P4s are cheap now, but there is a reason for the price drops, and it's called Athlon 64.

9700 pro=8 pipes/256 bit ram
9600pro/xt=4 pipes/128 bit ram

:D who cares which is newer, 9600xt is "budget" 9700 pro was high end when it came out

zues, so, by your logic, going from a FX5200, to a ti4800 is a downgrade?

;)

9700pro will put out more frames in ANYTHING, as compared to a 9600XT, at same IQ, therefor, its an upgrade.

Yes, going from a brand new vw lupo to a mclaren F1 is a mighty downgrade. Jesus, the mclaren is 10 yrs old! :D :D :D

Actually, yes it is since this ti4800 is a dirX8 and this 5200 is a dirX9 card.

Using common sense, who's gonna upgrade to a 9700 pro??

preformance wise... the ti4800 is still better then an FX5200, dx9 or not...

the real reason that you shouldnt get the 9700pro is that they arent even $20 less then the 9800pro. ;)

:stick:

I would, it will eat the pathetic 9600XT for breakfast any day. They are both are dx9, and the 9700p is only a few dollars more. Not everyone can afford a 9800 pro.....

Not buying such pos cards like the 9600xt in the first place makes you not wanting to upgrade that bad.

I mean the glory days of the 9700 were like some 1,5 years back, would you seriously consider buying such a card nowadays for your 24/7 system??

:stick: if you would.... ;)

Well, with the same system, I got 13,500 in 3d2k1, with a 9600XT, with that same system I got 18.5K with the 9700pro.

I call that an upgrade.

Can you read? Not everyone can afford a ~$200 9800 pro. 9700's are only 150-170....

Of course, I would get a 9800 in that situation, but calling a 9700 a "downgrade" is just stupid.

9600 Pro/XT is not 4 pipe. 9600/SE are, however.

9700 Pro will also stomp the 9600 series pretty easily, considering even a 9500 Pro will. 9800/Pro are great if you can get them, but if you cant, a 9700 Pro is good enough ;)

Now, that said, a 9600 Pro/XT isnt exactly bad either, its just not really great for what you can get for a similar price.

Yes i can, can you?
Not buying such a pos card in the first place means getting the 9700 instead of this 9600xt to start with. (a second hand 9700 is about the same price as a new 9600xt?)

Sorry for calling it a downgrade, i meant downgrade in terms of age.
