Hello guys and girls,
Within a couple of weeks, I'm visiting New York City.
As hardware is cheaper in the USA as in Belgium, Europe, I might spend some dollars for my proper needs and to support the American economy ;)
Do you know a good hardware shop in NYC? No webshop please as I should be able to pay it a visit (I have no address in the USA).
And if possible a link.
Already many thanks.

As a general rule prices are extremely high in New York City. I went to university for four years on Manhattan and frankly I not once bought a single computer component from a retail store there.
I know J+R http://www.jr.com/ has some stuff, and there's a CompUSA just south of Columbus Circle and one on 5th around 34th St. There's a company also called DataVision, but I don't think they had much. The vast majority of computer stores only sell prebuilts, and don't offer OEM gear.
I'd be hesitant about buying hardware that I can't immediatly test, though.

Yeah... manhattan is an expensive place to live and stores have to pay the rent. Furthermore, some electronics shops there are just plain dodgy. Fear not though, hell Im only 50 miles from NYC and it's suburbs/normal prices all the way. if you visit somebody, order from a net shop like newegg. If US prices look tasty, probably looking at sites like that anyway. Compusa wants an arm and a leg for cpu's but the newest VC's will be USA retail prices though in real brick and mortar stores... still might be comparably good. The "web is cheaper" rule doesnt apply to high demand products.
Basically, if you want a super new card, USA retail is what you are going to get and if thats good for you.. have at it but beware of crooks in NYC. Or netshop delivery to a relatives house if possible for cpu's, ram, vc etc.
