Ultra Quality Mode and WTH can't I run the damn timedemo!

1. Whats up with DOOM 3's ULTRA quality mode???? Id says only cards with 500+mb of memory can handle it, yet I run @ 1280x1024 on ULTRA mode with ~60fps....(this is on a 6800 GT @ 420/1100)

2. Why don't any freakin console commands work for me!
