too bad, i was going to buy one. Probably can find one now for really cheap. Still a very good cpu, 2mb cache should last until dual core cpu comes out.

I thought this was iNTELs best ?

“Market demand for the Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition supporting Hyper-Threading technology 3.20GHz with 800MHz processor system bus in mPGA478 packaging has shifted to higher performance AMD processors,” the company said it its statement sent to clients."

:D

:D lol, i think you have altered the article a tad.:D

higher performance Intel processors was the original line in that article news. I was gonna buy a 3.20ee though, at my local computer shop. it was on sale for $1,150. but i dont think i will ever have enough guts to walk in there with that much cash on me. The chic probably thinks i'm crazy. I already bought 1gb pc 3200 $231, 1gb pc2700 $181, asus P4P800 $135, Zalman cooler $50, P4 3.0e $229, and P4 3.2E $339.

all that and still below actuall P4 EE 3.2 costs! I wouldn't mind owning one though, it's always been my dream to own a P4 3.2EE.

Don't buy it for retail. There are great deals on eBay all the time. Check them out. Much less, same product.

LOL! That is only for the 3.2EE, EE will still be produced, and check the dates, its nothing bad. They just whant to stop making gallatin EE, so they can start doing the P4EE that as there own cores which should be better since they will be aimed for something more specific....

There are 5 or more 3.2EE's currently being sold on Ebay for a starting bid price of $199US. They all have a little over one day left on the auction timer. Pretty good deal if you dont get outbid :D

search for "extreme edition"

I agree don't buy it new, especially if you aren't going to overclock it.

It doesn't matter if it clocks like crap, because you are gonna run it at default anyway. Just get one the cheapest you can.

I picked up one of these last week, 2nd user retail boxed version.....runs flawlessly at 3850mhz watercooled !!
Great cpu for the money.....if you intend on keeping your rig for a while and not swapping cpu's.

the P4 3.2ee should give me 62k in aquamark stock. very very tempting though, i would get it if i had a week left to live.

Somehow I don't think this is for real: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=52476&item=5114342303&rd=1

$200 for a 3.2EE? I hardley believe that.

Ebay is like 1/2 the price of retail. Don't buy retail.

That is dirt cheap for an EE--THe seller only has feedback from one user though. If anybody buys one of these can you post an update?

The last product discontinuance order date for the chip is 19th of November, 2004. Last shipping dates for the chips are February 18, 2005, and July 29, 2005, for boxed and tray versions respectively. still a while a way

Yeah, someone has 1 feedback, on an auction that ran like 2 hours before he ended it early, and has a dozen listings of a thousand dollar processor with hints that he might be operating from out of the country? I'd be VERY wary.

I don't think hes located out of the country. I bid on one of the processors, so we'll see what happens. I didn't bid very much, & I don't expect to win.

Only the 3.2EE is being is being discontinued from what I read. It leads me to thinking the 3.4EE will continue to be produced.

The only real drawback is the higher multiplier, which lowers overall FSB at the same clock speed.

Now if they were downward unlocked like they should be, this issue would be a moot point...

What would really be nice is a Gallatin 4 MB P4 EE unlocked...what a chip that would be ratcheted up in a phase change cooler.:slobber:

But we will never see it happen.:(
