So is FM ever going to get off their a$$e$ and approve a new ATI videocard driver or are we all screwed??? Seems they have NO PROBLEM at all with all the 6800 cheat scores, but can't bring themselves to approve the new ATI Cats. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Perhaps a case of money talking again, or legal shens maybe?

I think the issue lies with:
1. 6800 drivers aren't cheating.
2. ATi is fudging their texture filtering. (so says Carmack, at least)
Goddamn NV for not hacking it up!

I was worried when I read this thread, was thinking ati was going out of business or dropping support for anything older than the x800pro! can 3dmark 2003 scores still publish with non approved drivers, just you see a red disclaimer? if so, not a big deal

yeah i agree, not a big deal. all us enthusiasts know the situation, and can easily view non fm approved driver runs.

6800 drivers arent cheating?
Have you been keeping up with the news??
I think the problem is that futuremark has put themselves in a spot of trouble for not doing research into drivers enough and probably beeing paid off!

Where is your irrefutable news that the drivers cheat (for the 6800's)?
We all know about the FX card hacks.

They copied ATi's, and are disabled by default if you select "High Quality" in the driver panel.
Unlike ATi you can turn them on and off at your leisure, and its not as if the X800 is so slow that the opts need to be on 24/7. :stick:

Why should they approve beta drivers? ;)

Latest FM approved is 4.6 (WHICH TOTALLY SUCK!)
Latest ATi release is 4.7. 4.8 will be released very soon.
If only "FM Approved" drivers count officially, when will we be limited by FM approved tweaks? What about FM approved systems? Will we only be able to drink FM approved beers? WTF!!!
2k3 should be like 2k1. Everything goes!!!;)

I have to disagree with that. I know its a pain, but I'm glad they're at least trying to montor the drivers.
When I search the ORB for FM approved drivers, the 4.7s are listed as approved. I haven't tried recently to publish anything with them though

Will try it! They aren't approved.

Its possible that they just aren't taking any new scores with that driver, but are allowing the scores that we already posted

I think that's what's up.
Also, FWIW, the 4.7 approval was pulled by ATI's request, not FM.....or so the release said. According to the party line, not for cheats, but crap on the screen in GT3. I'm sure there is more to it, but that is what FM stated when the approval was reversed.

Looks like you're right, I can't publish with that driver

thats another reason why I dont care for 2003. why are they not even allowing publishing now instead of just not putting it in default search?

Because they won't let you publish with one driver?
You've probably never run 2k3 in your life...

yeah, now i remmeber, ati asked fm to pull the 4.7 plug as they found a bug in one of the game tests.
storm, i prefer having drivers not approved than letting them accept all drivers with horrable iq.
what really really really amayes me is how xabre drivers and xgi drivers are fm approved though, those drivers have such a horrable iq even my granma would see it from 10meters distance! seriously, the entire screen is blurry...
