Try killing explorer?
What's your test order?

killing explorer should grab u another 70-90 points. Also If you haven't tried killing any non-system tasks in the task manager try that as well, while ur disabling explorer.

no way you can get even 1-3 more mhz HTT? that would probably do it.
2.5ghz is obviously a very round number.. so im not sure if your trying to get 30k at 2.5ghz or less... :stick:

100points is only a vatiation between each run if u ask meyou could always go to win2k and dx8.1 that'd get you couple hundred maybe

Turn off your theme to the classic windows one (if you kill explorer, it shouldn't matter anyway) Set your desktop res to 1024x768 @ 60Hz. Run 3DM01 then set the priority to realtime. Add 1MHz to your core speed ? :D I bet you could crack out an easy 30K then...
I've always seen 2-2-2-5 give me better Super_Pi and 3DMark scores than 2-2-2-10, but that's just my experience...

I would also run Nature 2nd to the last, you don't get much of a boost in nature runnning it first and it really slows down the rest of the test. LilGator is absolutely correct 2225 is quicker than 22210

Dragon L > LOBBY L > Dragon H > LOBBY H > CAR H > NATURE > CAR L
Does anyone know if there is one order that is faster than any other, or is it all preferance, kind of like a signature :D

"if u ask meyou could always go to win2k and dx8.1 that'd get you couple hundred maybe"
he would gain hundreds EASY from win2k alone, my friend eshbash has the same cpu you do and hes beating you in every test, hes at 31k but does have an x800xt but his nature is only a bit higher but hes ahead in the cpu test and has over 600 in drag low. also he wasnt using the 4.9 betas back then, if he did now he would be 31.5k. Nice score tin, you can hit 30k even with xp, but 2k will give ya 30k and change :D dont ever run nature first, try running both dragons first, eshbash did for the best fps

That's a good order. I usually run CH before DH and LH, but with the new cards it doesn't seem to matter
Damn, I just realized I'm over a 1000 posts:D

You mean you guys run one test at a time? How do you do that?:lol:

Funny guy, btw I forgot to thank you for the card. It was pretty average stock, but give it some volts and cooling and it really takes off. I'd still be on a 9800np if it wasn't for you :toast:

LOL
I run CH before DH and LH as well, but I guess since i'm using a 9800P i should stick to that method ?

apparently 4.9 cats give a nice boost, will have to try one day

I find if you run the lows first it makes less of a drag on the highs.
If you run the highs first it drags down the lows and you get a lower score...I like the order LilGator posted.

When I was running a 9800XT liked to run CH as soon as possible, but after LL and DL. The only times I ran DH first was when I was having trouble getting through DH and running it before CH helped

i know this might sound kinda dumb but how do u run 1 at a time, or change the order?

30k successful :toast:
The Car L scored low, it rebooted after my several trials, I supposed to get about 200marks more

Here's How to Run Tests One at a Time:

Yes, it makes a big difference for me. Using my 5700 Ultra, I run each test individually. This allows time between tests for the GPU to cool so that you do not experience lockups. It's simple really, just go to the Selected Tests and click Change..., then select the Custom tab, got to the bottom and select Clear and then check the box of one test. Once you have done that , apply your overclock to to GPU and then hit the Benchmark tab on the 3DMark main window. This will run only that test, once complete, it will tell you you have not run enough test to get a score. Close that window but not 3DMark entirely and set your GPU clocks back to default. Wait a while for the GPU to cool down (with the FX series it's nice because you can open up the nVidia display - advanced properties tab and watch your GPU cool down with the temperature settings tab). Once you feel it has cooled down enough, go back to the Selected Tests section and unselect the previous test and pick the next test. I usually just go straight down the line, from Car low to Car high, etc., etc.. Jus tdo this until all the test have been completed one by one. 3DMark saves the info from all the previous tests and compiles it. You can even check the status as you go along. I like to do this as 3DMark can be a little fickle and your runs can differ a little each time by a few FPS, especially on the CPU dependant tests. If a run is lower than the last time you ran it, you can try again.

Very nice :) Though as we mentioned, try 2-2-2-5, kill explorer, set your desktop resolution to 1024x768 60Hz, and run nature second to last ;) Should get you quite a nice boost...

The resolution and refresh you run on the desktop does not matter.
I tested this myself last winter.
I always run nature first because my card is cooler then because I have not ran anyother tests before it which allows me to use higher card clocks.

running nature first hurts other tests and gains nothing in nature. Just run both lobbies, wait for cpu and gpu to cool then car high. next is both dragons, car low then nature
LilGator
08-07-2004, 12:33 PM
Just wait as long as you want, and then run nature :D

you should always run CL last. If you run it enough times it will always give you a high score. Just keep running it until it does. Btw, my best CL runs are when I hit the barrel

thats strange! maybe I should take this in suggestion then. I do re-run car low and it can go up, but it has never gone up on my athlon xp rig, I kept re-running it 10 times and it kept going down till it was at a low of like 3/4 of the best and then it hovered around that. say I get 240fps the first run, I keep re-running and itll end up as 180 and more runs make it stay around 180. I can now re-run every test except both lobbies and car high. Nature rarely needs to be re-run as it doesnt vary more than a couple tenth of a fps for me. Both dragons dont vary by more than a couple fps but I do rerun them :D car low is the only test that a re-run matters alot. Its best to run both lobbies first, at least in my case since they are the most cpu/ram intensive tests. My car high does suffer 2 or 3fps but if I do car high first I lose like 10fps in lobby low and 2 or 3fps in lobby high

I don't know about your other system, but on the A64s and the P4s there is a big CL run that will happen if you run it enough. The big run is around 200 points higher. I only rerun Nature if I increase the clocks when I'm testing to see if I can get better clocks in Nature.

never re-run highs unless something totally bombs, but by that time you're ready for a reboot.
Geforce4ti4200
08-07-2004, 04:45 PM
you can rerun drag high, its worked for me, but never rerun either lobby nor car high, if you get a bad run, close 3dmark then load it again. if you keep getting bad runs, reboot and try again
