can the IceQ II cooler HiS is using be bought as a standalone? coz im affraid my gpu is getting just a bit too hot when stressed. Or would the new Zalman ZM80D-HP (http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=138&code=013) w/ fan be a good one too? I had a 80C-HP before on my ti4200 and it rocked. Does anyone know this 80d-hp thing is good for the high-end cards too? It was tested 41°C idle/50°C load w/ fan on a 9800pro.
thnx

There is a new rev of the VGA silencer (rev 4iirc) that has support for the new X800 cards :) That'd be your best bet.

Not yet. That's actually the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer Rev 4 in disguise. I haven't seen a release date for it yet though.

ok cool :)
now.. does anyone have a good flashutility? ;)
*edit*
I don't really wanna wait that long before even knówing when the release date is. So should the VGA silencer 3 be a good deal too? or doesn't he have x800 support?

I don't think the Rev 3's fit the x800s, so you'll have to look at something else or mod a HSF. I saw a couple of threads regarding this, one of them was by Hollywood iirc.

If you did not vmod your card it is probably not getting too hot unless you have very high ambient temps and low case airflow. A 3rd party air cooler will only help if you are vmodding the card. All the scores in my sig are with an XT and stock card cooling.

The VGA Silencer rev.3 is a direct bolt on for the X800 series cards. My temps dropped on the average of 15c using this cooler and I highly recommend it wether you are overclocking/modding or not. Anything in your PC that runs cooler will run more efficiently and will also last longer.

so ur saying the rev3 fits? great :)
and btw.. it's summer in here but ambient temps aren't that high.. I got a very good airflow (chieftec matrix big, rounded cables, 6 casefans 3 blowing 3 sucking :argue: ) :) and tell me; is a 75°C load temperature too hot? imo it is..

Yes the rev.3 fits perfectly, I had close to those same tempatures also with the stock cooling and IMO it was too hot. It idles now around 36c and full load temps have never gone beyond 58C.
