Hi,

Like the Topic says: Is there any other benefits from flashing a 9800pro to a 9800XT rather than the higher clocks? Does the 9800XT have any other superior technology? more pipelines, support for extra features, etc... (I already know the Overdrive thingy :))

More ram 9800pro 128mb and 9800XT 256mb and clock to clock 9800XT is faster then 9800pro

That is even if a 9800pro is overclocked to 9800XT ...9800XT is still faster...:)

Thanks for the reply JAMES,

My 9800pro have 256M (R360 core), but why even at the same clock the XT is faster? must be something else...

maybe the new pcb design can tighten the latencies more?

I heard something about pixel shader optimizations... not sure if it´s true.

9800XT has GDDR memory, while 9800pro 256MB has GDDR2 ... and 16 chips, instead of eight ...

Not really slavik, the older 256MB Pro's did, but all the new ones are XT PCB's, GDDR, 8 chips (Hynix) and R360 cores. Same as XT.

For me, 9800 Pro 128MB (R360 core), flashing to an XT bios gave a big boost in 3DM03, but nothing anywhere else...

but why have a 9800pro that is just like the XT???

It's cheaper than making a separate line of 256MBs that have different PCBs / Memory / Cores...

:D
