"Voila! After reboot we get 16x1, i.e. 16 pipelines. Of course, if a card has 4 offline pipelines defective, it will produce artefacts and we can't guarantee that any GeForce 6800 can be remade into a 6800GT.
Rather timely, RivaTuner indicated that recently tested MSI GeForce 6800 has 16 working pipelines! Therefore we are now correcting the article. We can't guarantee that all newer MSI cards will have 16 working pipelines though."
Looks kinda interesting :)

Probably the best question is, is there anyone that has a 6800NU ? They weren't very popular :D

LilGator, xbitlabs turned a 6800 into 6800GT as well. But they were quickly to add that most of the 6800's have the 4 pipelines damaged and by the time the yield will have increased and the demand for 6800 non-ultra's as well, nVidia probably will have implemented a n effective lock against such measures.
See: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/gf6800-oc_5.html
Hell but the 30.000 6800NU's are allready out on the market... So who the hell cares??? Get 1 before your neighbour... Hehe...
And maybe Nvidia wont...
Did you see their summary of the year??? They lost ALOT of many... I think they just need to sell anything... Hehe... ATI was on over 70% of market with 9800pro/XT over 5900XT->5950U...

That article is a little older, and all they tried was a BIOS flash to an Ultra. Besides, DigitLife just confirmed that a MSI 6800 worked fine with all 16 pipes enabled. Does it mean all 6800s will ? No. But it does mean that some will, not none, as xbitlabs suggests...

420 for a 6800NU????? You'd have to be mentally unstable to buy that at such a price!!!!!!!

Yes, BUT, the reason why it could possibly be a good deal is the mod factor...
LilGator
08-08-2004, 04:37 PM
True Soul, but at best you'd get the equivalent of a GT, which goes for that price anyway. So risking the chance of 16pipes is not really wise...
As far as deals go, modding a $275 6800NU to 16-pipes is a good deal. Once you crack $400, there's not much point to it...

Yeah i'm just not famaliar with prices lately...not around much to keep up with everything.

how much of a score would a $275 6800nu > gt be. wow.
lol... Here in denmark all the 6800NU's cost OVER 400$
A X800pro is over 550$... What the hell are you cheap asses complaining about??? My god... Hehe... You whiners...
You have lower taxes lower gas prices... (Here gas is up at like ~1.3$/liter) lower food what and electricity AND hardware... And you still cry?? My god...

hmm maybe ppl in denmark make more so the cost of living is more??....:stick:
~3500$ is average for danish ppl... Is that more than you americans??? And we pay ~45% taxes...
Cow2kie

I dont know the average for americans.. it would depend on which part of america... neways stop complaing about what YOU have to pay in denmark. Come over here if you want our prices so much ;)
Hehe... I'm only 17... And perhaps i will... But hey... You guys are really cheap :D
I swear to god ive seen some danish journalists asking americans about how they would feel paying XX% taxes... And XX$ for gas and food and water... They went pale and thought he was making some sort of a huge joke...
But hey.. Thats just great for you...
I would probably order more stuff from america... But when i do i gotta pay like 30% of the price to the danish goverment because of taxes and stuff... So it doesnt pay anyway... 2 bad...

Well, I just killed my R9800 256M. Right now I'm using a really bad 9700 that can only do 360/355 with vmods.
Let us know if it works with the card you bought, I'll be buying one the minute you say the mod works. (Or if it doesn't I'll sit here and wait for the ultra/GT/XT prices to fall)

which is about the same price.
hey...has anyone found the rivatuner version that allows the soft mod??i've read that unwinder is on vacation and only returns in the end of august, so maybe only then will that version of rivatuner be released...which sucks hard, since i have a Sparkle 6800NU just begging for that mod :D what kind of results would u expect from a 6800nu@gt??'cause this card only has 128mb ram after all... am doing 10212 marks atm with 385/816... what kind of improvement should i expect IF my other 4 pipes are fine and are turned on?
greets
