So...

I had a 9800PRO in my system below with:

A64 @ 2.75 ghz
EPoX 8KDA3J
2 x 36.7 WD raptors
1 x 60 gig maxtor HD
1 cdrw
1 dvd drive
1 fdd
heating element for prommy

and i had no stability problems

so i just got a x800 and my stable is the most unstable thing in the world!!!

i can't even get it stable at stock!!!

so on the recommendation of someone else, i removed the x800, put in a 9600xt and it's been stable again...

so my question is:
how much power does a x800 draw to make my system that unstable?

also... is it the power supply or is it the card?

if 430 isn't enough, would 550 be enough?

recommendations? super flower (aka ttgi) 550 any good?

thanks ahead of time

i think your motherboard doesnt like your videocard or the card is damaged.

Power Consumption 3D Mode (OVERALL SYSTEM POWER) Without PSU Efficiency of 69percent

6800Ultra: 288Watts
5950Ultra: 264Watts
x800xt: 263
x800pro:242
9800xt:261
9600xt:203

so there is no difference!!!
I got this from thg

203 vs. 242

that's still a 39 watt difference

well i ordered a TTGI 550watt so we'll see if that's enough

yeah with the 9800pro it worked fine and that should only be about a 20watts difference!

And note that your system was overclocked with the 9800pro! That are more than only 20watts I think...

The Card is powered by the 5v rail, how is it?

You will see ;)

i see what you're saying....

well either way i got a new psu cuz i'm building a new system anyway so it won't hurt to have an extra one :)
