I tried it 2 times tonight, niether time did it work, it just results in no boot.
I suspect it's from the wire being too thick and not letting the CPU sit properly in the socket...

unless it plain old just doesn't work.

anyways, if you don't know, it's a pin mod to allow the default voltage to be 1.7 volts.
tried it on both my 2.6C and 2.4A prescott.
neither would boot, and I tried the thinnest wires I could possibly find, and I am not sure I could find anything thinner.
yes the mods old, but I don't see why it should be any different, as the CPU socket hasn't changed so the same pins should still be the same...

am I missing something with this mod?

I did it on a 2.26 pentium 4 (a jear ago)
But I only used 2 pins. (cause now you are setting it for 1.85V)
Worked perfect for me. Never tryed it on a newer cpu.

I dont think it works on a prescott

doesn't matter if it's old.

pin mods still work on 468 boards for AMD and those are older then any mods I know of.
no reason why this wouldn't still work that I can figure.
theres tons of Pin Mods for Xeons...

What happens if you only connect 2 pins?
(like they also did in the url you gave)

Just ask yourself - do I see anyone else doing this mod? Don't you think if it worked it would have been done by now? Its all about putting 2 & 2 together:p:

not all mods are so openly available.
some are still kept secret.

I don't know about that. All the mods for 9700 to x800 are known. There are a ton of mods for CW mobos. If a mods secret, it musn't be any good.
