I Tried with everything at stock , even Fail Safe BIOS settings , whenever i exit a game , windows stops responding .
This is my setup :
Gigabyte K8N Pro
Athlon64 3200 + Clawhammer C0
2x256mb OCZ PC3500EB
SLK-948u / 92mm 50cfm fan
WD 120gb SATA hdd on SATA port 0
I don't understand , i tried reformatting , and installing only Chipset Drivers ( nForce , Sata , Sound , LAN ...) , Cats 4.7 , and DX 9.0c , and when i exited Doom 3 (Does it with Farcry and UT2k4 too ... ) , all the applications i tried to use crashed , and even Ctrl+alt+del wouldn't "launch".
My personnal guess is that i have something wrong with my SATA drive , anyone can help me ? Any K8N Pro owners ?

Sounds like your system resources are tied up, the games you mention are all pretty resource intensive, 512mb may not be sufficient. When this happens is there any hard drive activity? Hows your page file set? is it on a partition by itself or on your OS partition? If the page file is on your OS drive it may be getting fragmented.
I would bet that if you wait long enough your system would recover....

Actually , if each app i try to launch (Mozilla , Task Manager ...) creates the "error" windows sound and doesn't launch. Then , the apps that were launched just close themselves one after the other (MSN , winamp ...),if i try to do anything with them , until i can see nothing but my background. Just as if explorer was killed, but i can't re execute it because ctrl-alt-del doesn't launch . This is my first SATA drive , so i thought maybe i might have missed something ? I've had the same memory with my K8N Neo Plat , NF7 , and have never experienced that issue before  . The HDD activity is pretty low after i exit the game . My page file is set to 768mb and it is on my OS partition. But I reformatted very recently , i had this issue straight after formatting ,and this is a brand new HDD (2 days old) could it already be that fragmented ?!
Hope you keep the replies in , i hate having to reboot everytime i play something :(
I think i'm gonna hook up my 60GB IDE drive and see if i still get no cigar :stick:

Alright , problem solved . I tried my IDE drive , installed the same things , but this time , no crashing . I figured i must've had done something wrong with the SATA , so i grabbed the latest drivers of the Silicon Image website for the 3x12 SATA Controller and made another floppy for the windows install , and it worked ! I believe i had the wrong drivers as before , it would detect the 3112 chip , instead of the 3512 i have.
Thanks anyway for your help guys !
