Well, I got my board back from RMA. They said they tested it as working fine. I can't seem to get the floppy to work still though. Here's the deal. So far I have tested: 2 Power Supplies, 2 Drives (one tested in another machine), 3 disks (tested in 2 other machines), 2 cables (tried in every direction). I get the same result every time (except when cables are connected backwards). The floppy tries to read on bootup, but gives up and the hard drive loads into windows. Once there, I try to access the drive. It tells me the disk is not formatted. So I tell it to format the disk, and I get "Unexpected I/O Error". Every time, with both drives, both cables, all 3 disks, both power supplies... I'm not sure what that leaves to test. But according to the RMA department of eXcaliberpc.com the motherboard works. The only thing I can think is there has to be some sort of interference somewhere, but I don't know what could possible be causing it.

I just took a floppy, formatted it, made it a boot disk, tested that it booted on my other machine, then took the entire drive out, with cable attached and disk still in. Attached it to this board and it doesn't work...

Ok the same things happening to me. I updated to bios 1004 on the K8N board to allow me to install windows xp with an AMD64 3400+... Now my floppy drive is doing the same thing yours is. I'm going to try reverting to 1002 which came with my motherboard to see if it works.

Welcome to the forum, Gumber :toast: .
Do you have a USB floppy? Does that work?

Sorry it took me so long to reply.
RE: USB Floppy... no
I reverted back to bios 1002... no lunk my floppy just says all discs aren't formated and when it tried to format it has an error. the Beta bios 1004.1007 doesn't fix this either. If any knows whats causing this PLEASE let us know. I have tried cables and verified my power supply is good.
