I have checked the wiring a bajilion times and it is all right. The motherboard is the 8KDA3+ and the problem is that the computer starts up with the prommy and overloads it before the temp can go down.

Put the prommy on a seperate PSU. Turn that PSU on before you turn on the one connected to your components.

Strip off the case and run the 2nd PSU next to it. I run my benching/gaming rigs caseless 99% of the time.

this is my everyday rig....i would like it in the case. Is there not a way to remedy this problem?
You have a unique problem.

Just a thought... PSU Size?

doubt it, it sounds more like the motherboard is one of the ones that wont hold the reset? if so the only thing i can think of is a second temp controller like in the promy but wired to switch the reset when the promy gets to temp. just use a normal temp controller, and wire an extermal relay so it latches closed when it gets the signal from the temp controller and then when the relay looses power (i.e. when u shut down) it will unlatch and the pc will be ready to boot again.for this though you would have to wire your power switch straight up to the psu. i will draw a diagram to explain it better if you give me a few mins. :) and then you can all criticise me because i dont know how a promy works as i dont own one myself :p

ok.. i see why that wont work..lol... gimme a few hours and i will come up with something that will :)
EDIT: however this could be used to automatically power the pc up when the promy gets to temp IF you use a second PSU.
EDIT 2: this wouldnt work with 2 psu's either BUT i am modifying my plan so that it will :)

ok, i have come up with a plan that WOULD work, BUT it is a lot more complicated than i had thought it would have to be. :/ but basically it is a circuit that isolates power from the motherboard untill the promy lets go of the reset... this however involves switching all the conectors on the atx lead to the motherboard (except for ground, +5v SB and the green switch on wire) but yeh, it would be highly possible to make :) i might have a go sometime and make up a couple of prototypes, the only problem for me is i have no prommy so i can make a circuit i know will do what its sposed to (i.e. conect the power feed to the motherboard after the prommy lets go of the reset, BUT i have no way to actually test this on a prommy. anyway, i will work on it and let you know what i come up with :)

Ive comfirmed the unit to initiate on a 12v and 10.8v alternating currect [AC] power source. I am trying to get my hands on a 9V battery to see if that will do the trick. The wiring from there should be simple.

same problem as yours but i have 4 leds who are lit.. :(
I have solution to problem.
You could make a 555 timer for 80 seconds or something...

Perhaps a timer that manipulates the reset hold down?
