View Full Version : LS problem, -35C idle, +47C load....
Well..... I know it's really scary, but....
I got a A64 3200+, GB K8NS Pro and the LS, of course....
running 2400MHz/1.55V right now.... and running stable -35C core and -51C Vapo head.... now comes the sh*tty part.... running prime95 I got as high as +47C (plus 47 degrees) on the core.... and -39C on the Vapo head.. I know, that I should xpect around 25-30C difference between vapo head and CPU core, but this....
More important is, that the CPU will run around 2300MHz/1.65V on AIR, around 2360MHz/1.7V on water (40C load).... and with the Vapo and 47C on load I get 2400MHz/1.55V?!? WTF?!?
I've checked the contact between the head and the CPU and it's around perfect - when I pull up the head it's so hard stuck on the CPU that the CPU would come out stuck on the head.... now that's contact....
Could it be sh*tty temp sensor on the K8NS or......

I would go for the sh*tty temp sensor, because when my Mach 1 leaked the evap sensor showed like 53°

My guess is that you have bad contact and it is probably a piece of foam between the core and evap.
tighten the screws all the way down.
Well i'm almost sure that there's no foam in between... and the screws are tighten all the way down...
cwatson.... i was talking about the temp sensor on the MoBo... the Vapo temp sensor never goes over -39C.... -50C idle, -39C load....

what app are you using to determine your temps? i have this exact same setup. let me know and i will see if mine shows the same temps as yours. i never trust a motherboard temp sensor ;)
is this a good idea to check how accurate you mobo sensor really is
if you put the computer into sleep mode and leave it 5mins or so
then wake it back up
if the evap temp and the motherboard monitor are the same is it true to say that they are accurate
I've reseated the vapo head once more.... when I pull it out the print on the cpu and the head was good and even....
Now, again, under stress with 10k FFTs in Prime it's +21C at the moment.... with vapo head @-43C.......
OK.... I've tighten, and tighten like crasy... the contact is good.... I lowered the load temp to around +10C, but that still ain't what it should be.... my idle temp drop also.... to around -40C.....
I heard that the sensors on mobo's get screwey below -40. Btw have your overclocks changed?

I still think it is your contact pressure. Find the correct size washer and shim it up more.

TBH the idle temp drop also... to around -40C....
FUGGER, you still think it's the contact? blah... for you, man, I'm going to dismount it once more and see...
Ah, just came through my mind - I've put some nVentiv sealstring on the edge of the plastic vapo head for 101% condensation proof... could it be the problem?!?

If you have a small Thermometer - Then place it on the "side" of the CPU..

Well I've reassambled it again... got a good contact again.... still getting high temps.....
Here's a picture of the core after I remove the vapo head... eventhough it's a bit blured it shows, that the contact was pretty good....

well from looking at your pic you have perfect contact. whatever you are using to read your temps, it is completely wrong. unless your new to phase change this should be pretty obvious. DONT TRUST MB SENSORS :)
Well I'm not that new... i have a Vapo Classic, that I ran for some time....
What's bothering me was the idle <-> load temp difference...
But It looks like to be a bug.. it's a pitty though, that it "took" the original A64 socket insulation with it... had to make a custom one...
