View Full Version : How to hold mobo in reset mode?

I've wired a toggle switch on the reset wire so that the circuit can be held on, but the mobo reboots itself every now & then, so it's obviously a bit more complex that that lol
Anyone have any ideas how vapo/prommie hold the board in reset mode so I can figure out how I'm gonna do it?

Cheers
Jay

Bump!

Someone must know

Which motherboard are you referencing? Unfortunately not all motherboards are able to hold the reset, because of this not all are compatible.

Trying this on a MSI K8N Neo Plat

Thanks

Mach II's do not hold the reset, it sends a pulse to power-on when ever it reaches the boot up temp...

Since he specifically mentions hold reset, and a prom its pretty reasonable to assume Mach1, but yeah I know how the Mach2 works....

Sorry Jay, no idea on that partiular board, probably need to use a second supply.....

Is there any circutry that can be made to simulate the effect of the mach II when using a mach I

Ahh no prob, have 2 psu's at the moment it's just a bit of a pain & seems silly to have a psu just powering 1 fan lol, might just have to get a small plug-in psu to run the fan.

Thanks

Yeah it is a pain, it shouldn't be that hard to do, I've been tossing around a couple ideas, one is to pulse the reset line while waiting for the prom to reach temps. If i ever get the time I may try to take it past the thinking stage..

Was thinking of the same method actually, should be easy enough to knock up the circuit

Yeah it shouldn't be hard, I just always try to make it more complicated... Lol, I enjoy playing around with Micro controllers, and was thinking about redoing the prom controller using an Atmel or PIC since I have a bunch lying around...
