I just rebuilt my direct die gpu cooler. I think I finly fixed all of the leaks :) . It is currently being pressure tested with nitrogen. Here are some pics :)

This was the hrdest joint to braze. It is Copper/steel + it broke by on the compressor side also.

here is the evap. you can see where I hd to take off the insulation to search for leaks.

This is my nitrogen setup. I knew all of those old pintbll parts would come in handy ;)

With nitrogen, btw how much can it drop over 24hours without it being leak? I heard tht the oil bsobs some or something.

Another pic of the hard to fix leak. Btw I used 56% silver + flux

Please give comments and suggestions, Thanks!

btw sorry for the low quality images, my mom and sister currently are away/on vacation and they have the digicams. These were taken with our video camera.

luck bugger you got nitrogen now
hey with the condenser your using there is the flow correct?
in at the top out at the bottom never going upwards at any point?
it looks like 3 condensers in series, or is it 3 in parallel
well done though cant wait for temps?

The nitrogen is my brothers :) its a smallish bottle so I can prolly pressurize a system twice or 3 times b4 it rund out (the regulator I have also leaks :( ) When I turn on the fans I feel air out of the back (no a whole lot seing as these a 35cfm fans that run less than 35cfm) The insualtion tape on the top is to prevent the flow upwards and the condensor is going to fit flushly on the board so I wont be worrying about loss of air there. I hope I go tthis whole leak situation worked out. What do you guys think of the comressor side of this joint?

think it will hold?

btw why does the pressure go down when the oil absorbs nitrogen? It is still inside the system...

o srry kayl I thought you were asking about the air flow.... Yeah the condensor starts at the top and ends at the bottom. If there are any ups they are very small.

so can i...looks good jsu!
man...crap u finding all those leaks..ouch, i can't really tell, but did u flare the joints also?
i dunno, i think when i start, im gonna flare and braze all the joints(cept the ones i can't):P

yeah I flared them, but when I did the tightening mechanism on my flaring tool was broken so I used a vice to tighten it and the flares came out a bit lopsided so I guess a realy had to tighten these.....

Every flare joint had a leak....

btw hawain have you built any phase change systems? I ahvnt seen any threads.

been testing for around 24 hours now, the pressure went down last night from 245psi to 230psi, then I fixed the leak in my last flare valve. Its been steady ay 230psi but I am going to let it sit for another 12 hours or so.... Btw should I raise the pressure a bit or is 230 ok???

btw the suction line streched about 6 inches.... I hope my cap tube is sitll in. Even though I soldered it in there i am abit worried.
