I know everybody would love to have things loaded up in their ram instead of their drive. Faster browsing through files, faster loading levels for games. Overclockers.com had this posted a couple weeks ago:

The 4gb version goes for 3grand while the 1gb goes for 999. The thing is, this doesnt look anything special. Just a pci card that have 4 slots for sdram. Its only got a transfer rate of 133mb, but I got a ton of sdram sitting around anyway that I would love to put to use. Has anyone spotted a cheaper knock off version of something like this? The way I see it, if a motherboard can cost as little as 50 dollars and provide all that it does, this device would be well priced for 30 bucks for the consumer market.

Heck, we have Hipro in the other forum trying to get his bh6 on some dimms, how hard would it be to create tried and true technology.

Someone with the materials and soldering skills could make one for 1/10th of the price...

Whoa, strange piece of kit, and expensive. Let's get BigToe or one of the OCZ staff here interested as they like building strange pieces of kit (Like the vdimm booster).

If a PCI drive is not viable, what about through an S/ATA interace? Since many boards come with RAID on them, would it be possible to fully utilize the 150MB bandwidth from each channel for a theoretical 300MB of bandwidth? And if not sdram, what about some pc2100 ram.
