concerned about the x800 vmem mod

I remember there were warnings about doing the vmem mod on the 9700pro at first, connnecting the pin to ground like in the x800 vmem mod, i also noticed pc ice has a jumper in his mod to disable it, at least that what it looks like to me, is this a risky mod to do? ive already done the mod, but im a little bit worried about it.

any thoughts?

oh, and how many volts are you using too?
