I recently got a 6800GT (http://tw.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Products_nVIDIAGeforce6800GT.htm) vidcard, model GV-N68T256D It is an ES, default nvidia layout, default cooling, no PCI slot taken. Only on the heatsink and box it can be found the brand GIGABYTE.

PROBLEM:
- At stock speeds, when I start Prime95 I get artefacts in 2D mode.
- 3DMark 2001 randomly goes through all process or hangs.
- 3DMark 2003 hangs after 3 seconds. The screen "brakes" into pieces.

My rig:
2.4C SL6WF L319 + SLK900/Panaflo M1A@12v
2x256 Corsair PC3200 v.1.1 (BH-5)
Epox 4PCA3+ rev. 2.0
PSU: Antec 430W TruePower
1x80GB HDD
1xCD-RW
------------------------------------------------------
Win XP Pro SP1, Direcx 9.0b, full updates etc.

Clean XP install, tried drivers out of the box, tried latest drivers from nvidia. Same screen corruption. Temps are OK, around 53-57C idle. Room temperature ~25C. With other vidcard no problem(but I dont have another but an GF4MX).

When I OC to let's say 295MHz, 5:4 the problem goes worse. The screen is corrupted, 3DMark 2001 hangs. It could be the PSU? The vidcard takes too much juice? Voltages are pretty OK, with an exception: +12V gets around 11.65.. from 11.80 or so..

PLEASE anymore had this vidcard.. any info on it? I could do the bios hack to raise GPU voltage to 1.5v... I don't know, I'M STUCK!

I think there was lots of problems with the old 6800s. There was a post a while ago in the Xtreme Overclocking forum where someone had a similer problem.

i've changed memory, now pc2100 generic, running in 3:2 FSB 800 MHz..

no problems at all, I maxed out the vidcard at around 12-13000 in 3dmark 2003... It could be the PSU? Antec truepower could be so weak? I will test another one, but only in 2-3 days...

edit: if this not the right place for such topic, please move it to the right section; sorry for any inconvenience..

Has the card got it's own dedicated cable? The molex cannot have anything on the same line otherwise problems will be introduced.

wow quick feedback :)

no it has it's own rail, nothing else on it.. but I found an info about 6800U power; they're saying o more 170W and 5A on +12v plus 3.5A on +5V (if i remember correctly).

So.... It's not much. Also what difference could be between 200MHz 2-2-2-5 and 133 MHz 2.5-3-3?

edit: also I put some vitesta ddr500, but no less than 250-290 FSB 1:1 so big power drain also.. same crap again..

ook, tested another PSU(550W)- same problem. Changed vidcard bios.. from PNY.. same.

Tested on another mobo (AI7) and 2.8E cpu. Works perfectly. What could it be? The only left is the motherboard......
