hi all
i just installed my Max 3 in my Mach II and @ 1.75v i can hit 4.3ghz stable but my MBM temps shows the cpu at -10C idle and 5C load where my asus board would show around 36C idle and -20C load. i know the abit temps are off but does my temp seem right? this is my 2nd remount too make sure that the mach hasa good contact with the cpu.
thanks

Wtf? Maybe MBM has problems with low temps. I used to have a problem where it would show -40 constantly idle/load on my Athlon Thunderbird, when I switched sensors in MBM settings, it said 90C which wasn't true, as I could touch the processors heatsink without burning my hand and the BIOS said 65C. I think MBM is just a little bit bad for reporting temps.

doh!!! just remembered that MBM5 was setup for the Asus board.
update.. temps are the same when i changed it to the Max 3. i'll try hardware doctor.

The problem is becoze ASUS reports 10C to low, and Abit 10C too high. I whould have seen my face when I switched from ASUS to Abit :D

I find that Asus temp detection is actually quite accurate.

i can hit 4.3ghz stable with the max 3 compared to 4.2ghz with the asus because of alot less vcore fluctuations :)
still priming (4 hrs) withour errors and temp @ 5C.

That's why there is such a thing as a Droop Mod.

I always found the IC7's read the temps alittle high for some reason. even with dry ice it reads high.
IC7 reads temperatures below zero? When I put my A64 Abit KV8 Pro under dry ice it doesn't detect temperatures below zero. Furthermore, the KV8 Pro is newer than the IC7!

i don't mind about the temps now as i know its incorrect as long as it stable then thats fine.
the OTES fan is really loud, i decided to plu it into the cpu header so i can control the speed using speedfan.
just flashed my bios from 1.5 to 1.6 and now see my temps has dropped by 5C.

Only a little way under zero. I forget where it messes up, but not too far down it has problems reporting correctly. DI would definately take you below the threshold.

BIOS 24 is REAL bad.... 5-10C higher than the "normally" high Abit BIOS'es..........

My Asus P4C800E just died on me, didn't like my EE @ 4.4 Ghz+ I assume....Back on the IC7-G ( a new one actually), which is a much better motherboard for the EE anyways IMHO.
As for the temps, I had a 22°C fulll load temperature difference between my Asus P4C800E (bios 1016) and Abit IC7-G (bios 22) with my old 3.2EE same speed, same Vcore (bios) with my regular Mach II. MBM reported 8°C on the Abit and -14°C on the Asus. Idle was around -19°C on the Abit and around -35°C on the Asus.

I could get to 4.5GhZ with my EE on my Mach II fine without any problems. I have had 2 P4C800-E's and both have been under the Mach II without dying.

The first one died err, when, err, I got in a temper and snapped it in half *ahem*. Joking.

I'm sure the board is fine. Mine was just flaky from day one, really. Every now and then it just wouldn't post/boot no matter what. CLR CMOS didn't even help. Had the Vmem og Drop mod on, but disabling them didn't make any difference. Usually the board would come to back to life after a couple of hours/days, but this time it just didn't boot at all.
Anyway, I'm most happy with this rev. 1.1 IC7-G I just put in my system today so far. Vcore is undervolting, but under load it only drops 0.3V, which is't too shabby for a P4 EE @ ~4.3 Ghz I think.
Whenever I get my new vid card I'll go explore the 4.5 Ghz territory :p:

You probably just got a defective board then.
EDIT: What revision did you have? Revision 1 is normally the better version in my experience.

I'm sure you're right. I had revision 2, and without the drop mod, Vcore fluctuated like h*ll. Bios @ 1.75V --> dual prime = 1.57V.

Why do you say normally when you only tested 2?
And no, ASUS temps are not good. I was at zero w/ some 10C water.....

I have owned 2 rev 1's and borrowed a rev 2. I preferred the rev1's to the rev2 in terms of stability.
