Has anyone changed the fan in their 510-Deluxe to make it quieter and if so what fan did you use? Damn this thing is loud!!

Mine is not loud at all.....kinda wish it pushed more air.
If you are running modded lines, I would leave it as is since they only install one fan.

Lines are not modded, but when she's doing 3D stuff it starts screaming!! sounds alot like a Delta high output!
No 3D stuff and its not overly loud anymore.

I see.
What a friend of mine did was remove the stock fan and stick in a 40cfm 80mm fan in here that had a molex on it. He plugged that into his fan bus and now he adjusts it based on what he is doing.

There might be a reason it runs on high, is there alot of heat coming from it?

I wouldnt lower the cooling on such a high quality power supply, if its spinning up the fan, it probably should be spinning up the fan. I dont think the designers of the PCP&C 510 put that fan in there for the hell of it.

PCP&C makes an external unit that is attached to the outside of the PSU over the existing cooling fan...powered by 120V from the wall. More than DOUBLES the airflow through the unit. Really nice, I have one. Keeps the unit cool and voltages stable.
Got exactly the same problem... running now a watercooled system thats pretty much dead silent [ gotta put my hand on the pump to see if its running... little vibration is the only tell that its on ] and the PSU fan is by far the most annoying fan in the case [ Coolermaster Stacker ]... well the HD's are a      but thats fixable.
And thats with 4x 120mm + 1x80 fans... not counting the PSU fan.
So whats that 120mm fan thing you are talking about.. can you use that with a addon PSU plate, it covers atleast 2 of the 80mm fan screws.

I modded my Turbo-Cool 510 with af NMT2 modded (i.e. temperature regulated) 80mm Papst fan and mounted the PSU on top of my case. The fan is connected to the 3-pin CPU fan connector on the mobo.

I have one of these well.. not the deluxe model tho.. And it seems to not blow enough ;)...
If I replace the fan in there with one that has more cfms.. Can I just connect the new fan to where the orginal fans gets its power from ?
Or to I have to make sure they are the same wattage and stuff..
Thx

i have a 510 deluxe atx pfc
I found a killer fan mod
first this psu came with a delta fan , which in my opinion is not very smart but...
I opened up the psu
disconnected the fan and removed it
replaced with a enermax dual bearing adjustable fan,
fan came with 3 pin to molex connector
i clipped enermax 3 pin wire with wire cutters
clipped molex connector with wire vutters
used electrical tape and did it all up
clipped 3 rd leg of connector so that it plugen in to psu where the old fan was
tucked all wires in and put psu back together.
done
and did not viod warranty
silent, cool and still fan speed adjustable
who's ur daddy
enermax fan was like 5 dollars from newegg

The stock fan in my unit was pretty dang quiet compared to my Mach I. I actually replaced the stock fan with a higher output/louder fan because of the higher current output of my modified supply. My output temps are 40C compared to 45C with the stock fan.
It's real easy to replace the fan, but I would make sure it has the CFM to cool the supply adequetely.

If you really want to make it quiet and keep enough cooling, then the only chance for you is either modding the PSU with a 120mm fan, or mod it with 2x quiet 80mm fans. That's what I did to some of my PSUs (of course you could also use a 92mm fan or whatever you want, as long as the airflow is equal or better than original, after your mod).
Just add a second 80mm fan on top or in the back of the PSU, so you have a push-pull arangement. ;)
