im building a new pc and i just wanna know how far can i oc this rams.
this well be the system

CPU AMD Athlon XP Mobile 2600+
DFI Ultra Infinity A+
Gigabyte FX5900XT @ Ultra
Thermalright SP97 + Tornado 92mm
PSU Antec True Control 550W

i would like to reach at less 240mhz 1:1 at 2.9v doing 2-2-2-X
do u guys think it can be possible with this kind of rams. or if u have any other rams that can do that.

here is the link for the rams that i want

i dont think you can find a ram that can do that at 2.9 volts ocz 3500 eb (mine) can do 240 @ 2.9 volts but 3-3-2-7 if you want 2-2-2-x at this speed you need bh5 and more volts something like 3.1 if you are lucky ofcourse

by the way my eb 3500 can do 260 1:1 3-3-3-8 with 3.1 volts

kromosto, remember that the OCZ EL have better timmings than OCZ EB.

ocz 3500 eb (mine) can do 240 @ 2.9 volts but 3-3-2-7
and, as you say, if the eb makes 240@2.9 v 3-3-2-7, maybe the EB can do 2.5-3-3-7 (remember, the EL have better timmings than EB).

I'm not 100% secure. Is only my supositions, maybe I'm wrong

yes ocz el has better timings but cant do 240 2-2-2-x at 2.9 volts as my opinion

I agree with kromosto, I dun think even BH5s can do 2-2-2-x at 2.9v, it takes bh5 at least 3+v to do that speed.

whell, I'd say it, maybe i'm wrong.

How far do you think they can go?
230MHz 2.5-3-3-X @2.9v??

Nobody have that rams?

The eb can do 2.5-3-3-7. Up to what speed is the luck of that mem chip. I'll test mine later for the max it can do @ 2.5

my ocz3700EB does 250 3-2-2-8-12-16 1T on 2.8vdimm. 255~260(havnt tested to be sure) at 3-3-2-8.

Whell, I'm who want to know how far can go the PC3500 EL.

Mkzk posted for me, because I'm not very good with english.

But, EB is very expensive and I have not so many money.

I need a rams that can do 230 MHz 2-3-2-X with safe vdimm (2.9v) or less. But not so expensive. I need 1GB.

BUT, if the guys of space center systems (online shop) get some PC4200 EL or PC3700EB I can buy it, because is more cheap for me buying there with international credit card in contrast to buy in Venezuelan shops (that buys in other shops and add their profit).

What memory can do 230 MHz 2-3-2-X with 2.9v?? *no so expensive*

By the way, some people told me that the OCZ Gold, Gold Rev2 and EB says: "Optimized for i865/i875" and it doesn't perform good in AMD (athlon XP) plataforms. Is that true?

bh-5 is still the best for axp systems and i'd imagine ocz EB/micron 5ns chipped memory would be at least as good as ch-5. These micron 5ns chips are pretty good and you dont have to buy ocz EB to get them. my 3700EB does 2.5-2-2-5 up to 225mhz at 2.8vdimm but they really are made to run cas3. Those would be the memory chips i'd be looking for. Bh-5 then micron 5ns.

I have no idea what chips the ocz3500EL you pointed to on newegg use's. Best case i'd say it use's ch-5 and generaly only do around 230ish 2-3-2-5 at that voltage. On top of that DFI boards historicly dont like 512 meg sticks. my infinity would only take my 2x512 kingston bh-5 to 225 at 3.0vdimm and going to 3.3vdimm didnt make a diffrence but would take my 2x256 meg sticks of corsair bh-5(both sets) to 230+ at 3.1vdimm where the board then topped out and more voltage/less timings did nothing. In my nf7-s 2.0 both sets also did 232 and 234 at 3.04vdimm and also took my 512 meg sticks to 229 at same timings/voltage.

Ch-5 would be right up your alley tho, capable of doing 230 at that voltage and 2-3-2-5 timings as well. Zipzoomfly.com still has corsair twinx1024-3200LLPT rated for 2-3-2-6 1T and its about the same price as that pc3500 EL. Ocz3500EB is worth a look if you can find it, used to be around $300 for a gig.

Whell, thanks.

But, that means I must buy Abit NF7-S 2.0 / Abit AN7, not DFI LPB/U. Infinity??

I want 1GB of RAM at 230 MHz 2-3-2-X at 2.9v, those twinx1024-3200LLPT can do that no?

*The problem is that the NF7-S 2.0 don't allows to put the vdimm more than 2.9v, what do you think about buying Abit AN7?

Mongoose420

i didnt say you had to buy a nf7-s or that your infinity wouldnt run 2x512 at 230+ since some have gone as high as 250 with LP's and infinitys just that when i was benching my infinity 6 months ago they didnt deal with that much memory well, may have changed since then with bios updates. And that 3200llpt should do close to 230 at 2-3-2-5 timings at 2.9v.

Nf7-s 2.0s almost always overvolt to more than 3.0vdimm and i ran both my infinity and my nf7-s at 3.0vdimm 24/7. 6 months for the infinity now and nearly a year for the nf7-s 2.0.

But regardless what you buy unless you get 3700EB your not going to get 230 at 2-3-2-5 performance for sure. 3700EB baring a compatability issue will run 233 3-3-2-8 1T and will give better performance than ch-5 at 233 2-3-2-5 1T. Bh-5/ch-5 have run that speed fairly consistantly but its not a sure thing. Your board may not even run that high if you havnt allready tested it. No one is going to be able to say "buy this and buy that and you WILL get 230mhz 2-3-2-5" unless your buying used components that have been tested together.

MEN ^^

I can buy any of these rams:
http://www.spacecentersystems.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=TwinX&x=96&y=0

But it must not be more expensive than 370$, 370$ or less.

If the DFI Ultra Infinity doesn't hit 250 FSB tih 1GB overclocking RAM, what about buying PC4200 or OC4400 to get down that speed to PC4000 at 2.5-3-3-X???

Or 3200XL (2-2-2-5)???

^_^

EDITED:
ok. i think i'm gonna buy Corsair 3200XLPT
http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2082&p=5

look at that overclock @_@
They must go 2-3-3-X @ 2.9v at 250 MHz (DDR500) =) what do you think??

on my a8v my khx3200/512 bh-5 sticks in DC did 221 2-2-2-5 at 2.8vdimm. 2x256 of corsair xms3500c2 1.1 bh-5 did 228 2-2-2-10 at 2.8vdimm and 243 at 2-3-2-10 at the same voltage.

and the corsair XL or the kingston UL(i assume is the same stuff) usualy stops around 245. i havnt seen any end user results at 250mhz yet. But since they have dropped in price down to around $300 for a gig there prolly not a bad shot. 215mhz or so 2-2-2-5 and 240mhz or so relaxed.

So, the best choice is the Corsair XL??? can do 240 2-2-2-X with 2.9v??? or how many can do??

Repeat, I can buy any of these RAM's:

TWINX10243200XLPT
TWINX10243200XLPRO
TWINX10243200XL
TWINX1024R3200C2
TWINX5123200C2PT
TWINX5123200LLP
TWINX5123200LL
TWINX10243200C2PT
TWINX5123200C2
TWINX10243200LLP
TWINX10243200LL

Which memory I should buy? TWINX10243200XL??

**3200XL, 3200XLPT, 3200XLPRO are the same thnigs with diferent HeatSpreaders?

Thanks!
