Hey, I am going to be running a chilled liquid setup and I need to run my mobo/ everythig else outside of a case... Do I need to do anything to the mobo like grounding it somewhere or putting the mounting screw in or something? Also how do I turn my comp on without a power button? Thanks!

You will be grounded when you connect the PSU so dont worry about that. Just use a screwdriver or make a jumper wire to make momentary contact to the power switch jumper on the mobo.

also theres no grounded outlets in my room, so nothing is grounded except to itself, i have never had any problems with that tho

Not true. The larger of the two prongs should be earth ground(unless some lug-head screwed up). The third prong... outlet wise... has the exact same potential as the larger prong since they both go back to the ground bus in your breaker panel.

Just so you know... :toast:

I just use a jumper from a HD or something ... actually the long jumpers on my MB are pretty handy :)

I'd make sure that the electrical outlets/cord you use have a correct ground, if you are going to use a chilled water system.

Wouldn't want to short out your components or Yourself.....If you spring a leak!:p:

Eh, 12v don't hurt. Hell even 120v don't really hurt that much. I've grabbed a bare 120v wire before. Just tingles a bit, nothin else though.

Hmmm, I might have to give that a try ...

Depends on the person.. I could care less about 120 unless its a really humid (ie: raining) day.

Ive gotten zapped by 115v more than once and I hate it..... (I used to work with aquariums alot and had a few leaks on the electrical)

I had the top off of a PSU a week or so ago and was plugging the power cord in to, I just so happened to grab the place where that cord connects to, in the power supply, to push em together.

Just tingled a little, nothing major. Glad I don't live in Europe with their 220v lines.

Well it mighta helped that I was totally grounded too. I've usually got my smock on with the little ground cable plugged in to the bench.

It's not the voltage that hurts

It's the amps that kills ;)

dosnt really hurt, its just not a good feeling. Personnaly, 120V havent hurt me at all, but if I say to myself : go and touch the ground and the positive, I will never be able....

LoL Yeah, try and purposely grab the wires. I don't think anyone has the guts to do it.

Well this will be an embarrassing first post, but here goes anyways...

Nothing specifically to do with computers, but as we were all sharing stories of being electrocuted, here is my little blurb. When I was ~10, I had several Xmas light strands laid out and was replacing dead bulbs. Well one of them had a severed end, so I decided to grab an exposed wire in each hand. Nothing happened. Then I got the bright idea to moisten the fingers on each hand that were holding the wires. zzzzzaaappp.

That's where I should have stopped:rolleyes: But, it didn't really hurt, so I got a little more curious. So.....I stuck out my tounge. One wire to tounge, two wires...zzzzaaaapppp. 120 V right up my tounge. Still wouldn't say it really hurt though. However, after 10 or so years to think about that, it's gotta be about the dumbest thing ever:D
