Hi, I just bought a PC Power & Cooling 510-Deluxe and I was wondering what I should expect out of the pots... if anyone knows?

This Antec 550 just wasnt cutting it...needed more power and tighter voltages...

Ok thank you.

Anything else I should know about it? Any issues or anything? I don't expect that there is but j/w.

I haven't maxed out my pots, but I have my set as follows:

3.3v @ 3.41v

5v @ 5.25v

12v @ 12.6v

I believe I have the pots set at about 75 - 80% range...

I've had a PCPC 510W PSU for over a year and a half - with 3 external piano pots. The thing is as solid as a rock - very overbuilt internally too. You can't go wrong with it. Enjoy.

Where did you guys get your PCP&C 510W Deluxe? Did you directly order from the manufacturer or through retailers? Could you provide some links? I can't seem to find any in Canada, thanks!

www.pcpowerandcooling.com

buy direct its cheaper. they also have fantastic contomer support. i called a few times to ask about pots in both of my PCP&C psu's and they were very helpfull and faxed me the datasheet!

my 425 can bring the 3.3v line up to at least 3.9... i did once accidently. so at least on mine i have a good range.

Bob Roark is the GM of PC Power & Cooling if you ever have any questions or problems with your PSU's.

Will have a new OCZ Powerstream 520w power supply on hand Monday to test against it. It's a good unit too, a bit less expensive also.

volts not amps.

You'll have to test, but likely 3.6-4.0

I choose to go with the OCZ Powerstream, it's less expensive and the cool factor is also there :D

I got mine from www.excaliberpc.com -- in stock.

$220.00 shipped.

Of course it's... $224.00 if you get the $4.00 2-day air upgrade :)

mine could probably hit 4v if i maxed it out. that scares me a bit. i did 3.8 or 3.9 once and turned it way back. 3.5v now.

I have a question too.
I got PC P&C 510 deluxe with out pots.
There are 2 holes on one side (I presume for internal pots).
Now do do you adjust them? Just by looking inside through the hole you can not see much. Other than some metal plate very close to the holes I can not see anything. I really dont want to put a screw driver in there cause I dont know what is at the other end and also the screw drive can touch that metal plate (nasty!!).

Do I have to open it up to adjust the internal pots?
Also Evil_Spork do you have a scan of that datasheet from the manufacturer? I might install some pots in there, as the quote $30US per pot from manufacturer was going to almost 50% of the cost of the power supply to just add 3 pots in there!!

Thanks.

Yes, I would like to know how to adjust the pots exactly...mine has all the pot holes but when you look into them you can't see anything...and im afraid to stick a screwdriver in there.

Hey man this is what I did. Attached 3 or 4 fans. The put a very bright light and then you can see the pots inside. Get a small screw driver - MAKE SURE THE POWER SUPPLY IS NOT PLUGGED INTO POWER - and twist on of the pots. Jump the green wire to one of the black wire on the ATX connector then plug power supply in and turn on. Measure voltage with multimeter.
Turn OFF UNPLUG, push the button to turn ON (this is so if there is any Volts in there they will get discharged and not zap you). Twist pot again. Reapeat steps till you get the desired voltage.

Repeat all above steps for each pot.

It took me 10 - 15 minutes for the whole thing but I didnt get zapped or kill power supply :)

IIRC, you can also replace the factory pots with 2k pots and increase your voltage that way. I believe I saw a thread way back when....

My 475w PCP@C was way too loud so I took it apart and replaced the fan with a quieter 80mm. Air is a little warm coming out the back but it'd has been running fine for about 8 months now after the mod and it's under heavy load. I've got 5 120mm fans (2 case, 3 radiator) along with everything else in my rig and it's rock solid and keeps my rails dead on assuming the mb has good regulation also.

The PC Power & Cooling has 3.3v, 5v, and 12v pots.. You can take off the cover and crank it up(be very careful not to touch anything but the pots...)

The two pots next to each other is the 3.3v and 12v lines.. The pot that is under like a metal cover with a hole in it is the 3.3v line, and the one next to it is the 12v line..

The 5v line is on the side at the bottom.. (the same side as the 3.3v / 12v line pots)....

I would really recommend removing the cover, you could easily short something out if you missed the pots...

I really like how OCZ put the pots on back where they are easily adjusted.. If PC Power & Cooling implimented something like this and maybe a cool factor to there power supplies with out losing any performance marks it would be the best powersupply all the way around....
Maybe with OCZ line of powersupplies out, PC power & cooling will improve on there all ready rock steady powersupplies...
You can always improve...:D
