ok iam a novice to all these forums. But i have got hold of a flash beer cooler, have hooked it up to a cheapo block and getting temps down to between 1c and 3c...and alot of condensation is occuring which happens under that temp under ambient...Have read about ur pelt systems and dont really want to go down that road...not enough time to spend on modding :( but would like some pics suggestions on how could lag/nep the system and mb the best way. will be using 1/2" tubing on system but not quite sure how to lag the block for the best and would i have to do both sides of the mb??? Hopefully have the system running 24/7as its ac power and havent put switch in line......so really asking u guys for some guidence on this????
I don't quite understand the 'lag/nep' thingie :(
If you are asking about condensation proofing then what you need is a regular pipe insulation as available for any DIY store (I think it's called armaflex or sumthin) to insulate your coolant lines as thoroughly as possible, which on top of preventing condensation forming should also imprive your temps by a whisker.
YOu will also need to insulate your block, space around it, and the other side of your MoBo (try plastazote - strictly European afaik - perfect stuff for custom made sub ambient cooling due to superior insulating properties and extreme ease of working with).
Switching your system on/off assy is a discussion for a separate thread :)
BTW, where did you get your beer chiller from and how much was it if you do not mind answering these questions :)?

ok thks for the reply...i have lagged the pipework with the armaflex and the block ..but not the base..?? and have inserted a peice in the center of the socket....but not 100% sure exactly what needs and what doesnt....gonna have to get hold of some dialetric gel to seal the socket up as the block is running cold about 0.1c and will go down to -4c (needs a good digi themometer)and the condensation is real bad.lagging the pipe work just centralizes the condensation to the blocks base and as its not cold enough to ice up and has nowhere to go apart from all over the core.. I thought that if i used a TEC on it, it might help cure some of the condensation problems????
the cooler cost me £80
;) ;)
Nice unit! Drop me a line where did you buy it if you can of course:)
Where did you think of placing this TEC and how you thought would it help your condensation?

Ok thks for the reply.....as I work in the pub trade asked a few of the tech boys if they could find 1 for me;) ;) ........
What I was thinking about the pelt, as the res water temp will go to -3 C then adding a pelt to it with the water cooling that might stop the block from condensating as the heat dissipation from the hot side would sufficiently warm the water past its dew point but still maintain a below ambient temp??? ...plus a sealed unit like the MCW5002-AT™ AMD® "K7" socket 462 is already insulated to some degree. So all I would have to do is top off the block with neoprene and lag the pipes.....not sure though...The cooler has a impeller pump in the res so not to worried about other items at the moment just really want to see if I can get this to work on the cpu.
