View Full Version : Mach 2 mounted... but no chance of 2600Mhz for a A64 3400+
hmm today i mounted my Mach2 on my K8N Neo Platinum...
gotta set 1,8vcore... no chance of 2600Mhz... evap temp is -40° C
it's a 3400+ C0....
i got 2 furhter 3400+ , both are CG (AR)
perhaps i have more luck with these ?

AGP/PCI lock
no i set 201 in bios and than with clockgen up in win

you have to lock your AGP, a R9700 doesn't like high AGP speeds.
yeah no question... with air cooling i managed 2500mhz... so there must be some reseves with prometeia...
Bad luck with that chip i'd say.
Got my 3400+ to 2560MHz on air but can't get it any further on watercooling.
How do the other chips do?

Why? There is no guarantee for nothing.

Yes.

Think it is the C0 and the memorys that won't work together. Im in the same situation. C0 + 1024 (doublesided memorys) -> no good overclock.
I'm going to buy a a64 with the CG-core this week and hopefully get better results.

i tested with only one module (1x 512 MB OCZ PC4400 Gold Ldt. Edition)

seems like the c0 cores do not like high clocks, they max out at 2.6 or 2.7 even with -40c cooling, Macci's first a64 only did 260x10 but his later ones did over 3GHz easy
damnit... okay than i have to chose one of my both CG today :D

Erm...don't think so.
Remember that chip RootX had? It was a 3400+ and did 2,9Gig under the prom, 1,7V!!!
Also, Gamer used to have one that did 2,8+Gig under the prom, also 1,7V, can't remember if it was a 3200+ or 3400+.
Both were "early" chips.
It's just one chip seems to yield a whole lot better than the other.

True, this is another one from zyx, with a modded prom too.

evap making good contact?
think so because i can set 2700mhz and run one super pi 1m
with air i could hardly set 2600mhz but with an imediate freeze...
just used another 3400... but now a AR (CG) one...
i simply cannot run Super Pi 1M at 2600Mhz with 1,84vcore :(
i could throw it all on the wall...
what does i do wrong ?
watch your language!

If you are using the a64 mounting kit that could be the reason!! I´ve recently checked mine cause the cpu said 8+ C at 2700 (1.85vcore) on a mach @ r404a.. I was like wtf... But then I checked the mounting kit.. the thing wasnt properly attached even though it was a perfect mount. I discovered that the mounting kit could´nt apply the right pressure (checked by pressing the evap and the cpu temp. went straight below zero again in a mater of few sec.. .So the a64 kit def. have some mounting issues I am affriad.. I´ll post my solution later...

the problem is that i cannot read out the cpu temp... its a msi k8n
core center says -65°C and bios says +187°C and freezes....

I know what you're talking about. I mounted the cpu kit and when I tried to get the Prommy head on with the sealstring it would make bad or almost no contact with the cpu. So I didn't use sealstring but installed the head right on the mounting kit. And used sealstring to seal the edges and the screws. And it works perfectly :D , Evap temp: -54c, Cpu temp: -37c. I use Speedfan to check the temperature.
so it could be the temps ?
but when bios says 187°C it must be below 0° because if it would be above 0° than it would display it correctly....
hmm or i had bad luck two times and my C0 and one of my CGs are crap and i have to test my third one...

With my Epox it boots saying 0C in red, and in Windows the only application that will show me the temps is Speedfan.

says the same...
i think the sensors of my MSI K8N dont go below 0°

what does "evaporator temp" mean in the prometeia control centre.... where is this temp measured?

My solution.. napped of the "legs" beneth the top side of the kit.. Drilled some hole and the rest speaks pretty much for it self I guess..
