Hi there.... :D

A friend of mine just brought me a His ATI Radeon X800pro to test it.......The card is without any mods on it YET and with an ALFA PAL heatsink for Pentium3 CPU's....

How does it look for a start???.....

It could do more but I had to take it off to mod it...... :D :toast:

LOL reminds me of myself...

i couldnt justify spending £300 or 150.000 äñá÷ìåò to buy a digi cam...till my fahter bought one for me and my bro which i am the only one using btw...£300 is a 3.4CPU or some more ram etc... :D

nice too bad ya can catch AMD with Intel in 2k1 ;) but vice versa for 2k3 ;)

but as always you have one of the fastest Intel rigs on the planet so nothing but Kudo's to you M8 :) awsome work

Nice... but it really demonstrates how current systems bottleneck these cards (At least at 1024x768x32 with no Options enabled ;) .)

How's it look in 2003?

" AMD with Intel in 2k1 but vice versa for 2k3 "

All that really means is that the guys running intels have better clocking cards... because 2003 is immeasurable more reliant on the card itself than 2001.

lol, nope

if you take a A64 vs. Intel at clocks that are even in perfomance in 3d app's lets say in 2k1

4.4ghz P4ee vs. a 2.8ghz A64 same card clocks so both scores in 2k1 are even/close +/- 100-200 points

then run 2k3 the P4 will be easy 500 points higher :)

now take a

A64 @3200mhz vs. a P4ee at 4.4ghz and equal gpu clocks In 2k3 so both scores are +/- 50 points and then run a 2k1 bench wiht those two setups and the AMD will OWN the Intel by over 2000 points

thats a fact ;)

bottom line is if you overclock an A64 to match Intel in 2k3 the end result is A64 wooping Intel by 2000 points In 2k1 ;)

Dude. 2k1 is VASTLY more reliant on system potency than 2k3. That's a known fact. The fact of the matter is, you put the same card in a 2000mhz 200x10 FX and a 4800mhz 300x16 EE and the difference in 2k1 will be greater (even scaled) than the difference in 2k3. Which pretty much tosses your whole theory of 2k1 'liking' amd and 2k3 'liking' intel out the window.

hipro5
06-25-2004, 01:13 PM
Yeap..Nice game .... :D

Now........I hardly DON'T believe that in 3DMark2001 A64 CPU's are "infront" of Intel's........There is NOONE with an Intel rig benching Rams that high with all settings FULL agressive so as to be comparable.....Hopefully in the next days I can bench at 265 to 267 MHz CPU:RAM 1:1 with aggressive EVERYTHING and then we could see what could happen......Benching at 5:4 or at 1:1 BUT with higher multi with an Intel rig EVEN with an EE CPU is NOTHING when benching at 260MHz+ 1:1.....So you can't - yet - compare the two rigs IF you haven't even show the "whole" story of it......... ;) :)

A proper version of your response would have been:

With all due respect I believe the P4 platform simply does not have the raw power to match the A64 platform. If you look at the CPU indicative game tests I believe you will agree with me.

ask him what it would take for Intel to match the Top 3 on the ORB with same GPU clocks..

Like I said awsome score, but Intel doesnt scale with a GPU close to what a A64 chip does..

We all know 03 is obviously Intel biased in some way, just as PCMark02 is Intel biased. I'm geussing, but not positive, it has something to do with HT but I'm just making a crap shot at that.

2k1 is more of a complete system test, AMD is of course going to win that because each test highlights different areas and HT has no effect on it what-so-ever.

I wanna see a 64 bit version of 03/2k1 :D

This argument has been made a million times. It's all just restating the fact that A64s are clock for clock ALOT faster than P4s. It's K8 vs. netburst, and netburst really resembles the original P1 more than anything

Overclock Kid
06-25-2004, 02:17 PM
I think its like this ;)

Intel is faster in 2k3 because

Intel+winXP+2k3 all use SSE optimizations all which are faster and are enhanced for one another for SSE and Intel is alot stronger on SSE stuff

AMD 2k1 because

AMD+2000+2k1 are faster as win2000 loads less resourses and AMD is stronger in all out clock for clock speed..

High memory speed on P4 is hard.. Mine did 263Mhz 2-2-2-5 thru 3dmark 2001, and 268Mhz thru super pi 1M..

this was with a 2.4C.. and 3.6v to my Kingston BH-5 sticks..

hipro5: do you have a pic of your memory? is it modded to hell? ;)

Not as moded as I would like it to be......but moded enough....

Okay, I hope this isn't OT! ;)

Here the big Cooling-Block designed for 2 Pelts. (A coldplate + 2 178W max Pelts are installed, not on this pics yet): ATM I'm busy to make a better isolation, then I´ll post new pics!

MAX Screenshotable Speed:

Can do better, and some MHZ lower its stable... :D

And for information, watercooling gains NOTHING over aircooled Ram /w fans, chilling helps the Ram JUST A LIL BIT. The BIG Gain comes with Peltiers!! TECs are perfect here because of the low heat dissipation (even at 3.7V) ;)

But on some sticks, temperature gains nothing, on some ist helps 10MHz or even little bit more, but it makes fun to test it! :)

And of course I built this Cooler myself on an old mechanical milling machine!! Xtreme enough?

p4z1f1st good PC2700 have BH-6 chips onboard :D

DjTonic, you're wrong here. These Kingston PC2700s have Microns -5BC on it! They run very good in DC Mode, in comparison to the Winbonds. ;)

Max benchmarkable at around 280MHz, the i875P is limiting here I think.

My BH-6 don't clock very good, max 272MHz DC / 284MHz SC stable. 12MHz less in DC...
The problem is, at 270MHz, the BH-6 seems to be faster than the Microns at 280MHz+ ...

i have to say this is the most impressive OC with ram i have eva seen.
well done.
you should post this in the cooling section also dude

hipro5,

was this a prescott or an extreme edition p4?

obviously a Extreme Edition.

What is the circuit the water makes in the cooper block?

Great job but where are the peltiers located? Do they just cool the water that gets in the block or are they in the ram block?

The Circuit are 3 Channels 2Up and 1Down. The 2 Pelts are located here:

http://mitglied.lycos.de/coolinglimit/Cooling/Ramcooler/Teile/PICT0016.JPG

On this 2 Pelts is a Coldplate (80x40mm) and this Coldplate is in Contact with the Copper to the Ramchips.
Its NOT installed in this Pics yet.

For testing I pumped chilled -30°C Water through the Coolingblock and 2 40x40mm EURECA 178W Pelts at 17V, Coldplate was nearly -50°C, not measured exactly, but I noticed it in OCing my Rams also! :D

Great great job, wonderfull block, after its isolated i would probably like to do one, if you dont mind.

But thermal isolation issue looks a bit hard to do.

How do you get the memory cooper plates to make full contact with the memory chips??

OH, now i see, that those are 2x128MB-sticks ?!

ok....thats impressive in the clocks......but......erm.......256MB ? :D ;)
