View Full Version : DDR2 a joke, May wanna take a second look...

for all the bad stuff I can say about the cas and how the first benchmarks show the ram isn't much of anything to look forward to and all...

this one little screen shot changed all that.

270 at 1:1 maybe??
from OCZ...

;)

read what macci is saying. the one you posted is, seemingly according to him, questionable.

Those are some very impressive numbers.

that's 4:3 ratio though hehe

3:4 ratio

DDR2 is all about bandwidth! Saaya posted this on the front page of XS.

well bandwidth is all and good if you need it, but I don't think the P4 is benefiting that much more from it. At least not at current speeds and prescott core. Benches show that to be truth even in oc's form. Sure super pi will run great, but it does anyway on a prescott. I am interested how it will scale with fsb oc's and future better prescotts.
But IMO the A64 is still better setup right now, at least faster. Boards could be more solid though.
Will have to see if mobo makers have put alot more time into their 775 boards for INtel as they are coming around now.
Should be a fun summer.

yeah i agree, in real world performance , DDR2 will not likely make a huge performance boost with current prescott core. However, applications that love bandwidth should enjoy a nice boost. applications like Sisoft Sandra.

Are there any other programs other than synthetic benchmarks which could utilize all that extra bandwith?

tylerhskate

any performance boost will help :) - as long as its at a reasonable price which it probably wont be

Lithan
06-25-2004, 10:57 AM
Nope... that's why it's a synthetic benchmark.

hmmm video editing programs are the only real world apps that almost stress the system like memory bandwidth tests.

so i guess video editing should go faster with ddr-2 as you can move large chunks of data faster through your system memory...

but the gain should not be that much... 5%, maybe 10% compared to 6000mb/s

holy..thats good stuff ;D

Naughtyboy

Yeah..video/music encoding and editing ...just love bandwidht.... timings wont do much of a differense there...but huge FSB with 1:1 will..!!!! :)

wheres ryan when you need him ;)

I wish someone from OCZ would comment on this shot...

Looks a bit faulty...

Saw a test where they ran 700Mhz or sumthin around there and they got 7000....

Why they hell can those systems run 3:4??? Still think that CAS-5 is WAY to much... CAS4 is max in my opinion...

I think its a fake! I am hoping some one from OCZ will pop in here to confirm this, because if it is true Im at awe:slobber:

Fake or not whats the difference ?

Static memory bandwidth tests like Sandra are not a great measure of performance anyhow... If you are looking to see performance, run a buncha games and apps and benchies, not just one useless memory bandwidth test.

lol...fitting comment to ur avatar..and...how did waat cpulloverclock posted prove its a fake?

saaya

cpulloverclock, what are those pix supposed to show us?

and why do you think its a fake? why would theinquirer post a fake score?

cpulloverclock
06-26-2004, 11:58 PM
a memory bench was tested by the japs with an Abit AA8 and Asus P5... at 275 3:4 ratio and the score was around 6750-6800..

Then I dont know if it's really a fake but I'm skeptic

Ryan posted the bench...as far as I know its no fake and was done using the new Abit mobo.

As for where I have been, out the country, so off the net for a few days.

Its no fake , actaully rob the inq got that bench in our labs while screwing around and we have been having all types of odd results , so were assuming its a bug at this point
