View Full Version : Corsair XL or OCZ 3700EB?

The EB offers faster speeds, but is a bit looser in timing, while the Corsair will run 2-2-2 at 200-220. I'd be OC'ing an FX-53 on an LS, so I'd be hitting pretty close to 3Ghz if I'm lucky. But, which memory would be the best for me?

EB, the corsair wont scale high even with lots of volts. the XL will prolly do 260-270 but with bat timings, whereas the EB will do the same speeds with lower volts, and better timings.

eb i think you can take small multies and run at higher fsb with eb 3700 with 1:1

Have there been made an ECC version of EB and XL??
Or I'm totally wrong??

Thomas, he will probably use the ram on socket 939 fx53 which doesnt require ECC

XL (samsung 4's) is good for 2-2-2-5 up to around 220, then 2.5-3-2 or 2.5-3-3 up to ddr500 and volts don't help much.

EB (Micron 5's) is 3-2-2 but much higher and takes volts.

yea 3700Eb all the way. mine cranked right up to 250 3-2-2-8 1T at 2.8(2.86vdimm i think overvolt, charlie help me out). thats 3d benchable. 245 same timings same voltage will run at least 4 consecutive superpi2mill runs without a a hitch(to impatient to do a 8mill run). Ive been runn'n at 233x10 with my 3500+ since yesterday evening without a reboot, gaming/surfing/ect and not a wiggle. xms3200xl who?:stick: :D

Did someone run 3+ volts through the Samsung when I wasn't looking?

I'll I've seen are reviews on the ram where they went up to 2.9 - but what happens when you push it?

If its been done to no avail - link me?

My PC3200Eb does 240Mhz 3-2-2-11 on a Infinity at 2.9v! Great memory.

why only 2.9v?

Guess it depends on how you like your system. The EB is better IMO.

My 3700EB runs upto 245mhz with 2.5-2-2-11 timings and upto 256mhz 3-3-2-7 timings. On 2.9v. I'll need a vdimm mod to go higer vdimm and i'm sure it will go faster too.

Too much hardware, too little time! :p:

how much volts can you put into the EB? Do they love voltage like the bh5?

I don't know how much they love it.. but macci had a great ol time with his at 3.3v around 292-296mhz mem if i remember right.

the EB.

people just seem to get great results from that ram, even if a board doesn't have 3+ volts to put into it.
the ram just seems to do good, even at only 2.8 volts or so.

I agree, get the eb ram. also cas3 does not matter to an a64 platform anyway, its ras-cas of 2 is what you want. alot of ram wont do ras-cas of 2 at high fsb so good luck. and if you vdimm mod, beware killing your memory controller

Got this from Ryan and Tony from OCZ who has tried volts during testing. I have heard this from a couple users as well.

But from what I have heard you can easily kill your A64 with high vdimms? What vdimms are safe for a vappocooled A64 3400+?

So am I hearing right it´s pointless spending money on CAS 2 memories on A64:s?? They are like Intels bandwidth is more important??
