I have an abit ic7-max3 motherboard with an Intel p4c @ 2.6 GHZ. I have mushkin black lvl 2 ram, and 2 36gb wd raptors.
Memtest 86+ passes easily at up to 3.6Ghz for hours, and so do command line burn in tests. I have the latest bios. My temperatures are 47 Load, 37 Idle. I have an aircooled v1000 case with an Antec 550 watt truecontroll.
I have an Asus 9800xt as well, though it may not be related.
Except, strangely enough, my hard drives arent detected even with the slightest overclock. What could be wrong? Everything else works perfectly.
Thanks for your help
A possibly related backstory:
Upon a recent reinstall of my entire computer, I decided to reseat the processor. It came off with the heatsink, so I thought then was a good time to try and pry it off. My pliers slipped the first time, with little bits of processor flying off. (thankfully, I was able to boot, and my overclock actually increased  a small ammount). I then proceeded to push it to the edge of the heatsink with a flathead screwdriver, and successfully booted the computer and reinstalled Windows with no errors. I tried going back to my familiar overclock but was met with a very loud and solid high pitched beep from the motherboard. I was forced to reset the bios and start from scratch at 2.6ghz.
