just use the game timedemo :
lauche quake 3 , pop the console menu (dont forget to previously set specified gfx settings)
:
type
/timedemo 1 [enter]
/demo demo001 [enter]
When it's done , just pop the console chek out your results.
I just thought it'd be fun to see what ppl can do nowadays with their OCed systems... guess i was wrong :stick:

I think we should compete in actual game benchmarks... 3dmark is great because you can compare scores on the orb but this shows real performance... But I guess youd have to buy the game and all the benchmarks we already do are free.

If we're gonna have fun, why not bench some Quake 2 crusher? :D

All you need is the demo version :

Hmm who knows maybe among other things if q3a had an extensive online comparative database like Futuremark's ORB it would take off and be a widely accepted benchmark tool.. but then again maybe not :)

and even if there is, it should be done with the same .cfg file, coz the quality settings that are in the setup/system are only about 2% of all the settings that can be changed through the console
If we all dont change them , then it's fine don't you agree ?

Using a standard cfg would guarantee that everyone has the same settings. Typing "\exec benchconfig" in the console is fast and easy and guarantees everyone will have the same game settings.

You should've just asked for a 640x480 lowest possible quality, highest possible framerate competition..... Then I would have submitted this: :D

I think we should bench it 1600x1200, everything on MAX settings...this is after all an old game.
does anyone know how to write a config for this that we can all load ?

(copy paste the whole link)
Shouldnt be too hard :p:
Wich resolution do we want to compete at ?

3Dmark is not so good sometimes.. due to extreme variations in FPS/ scores in certain test such as Car Low and few other tests. Other than that, I love 3dmark.. This bench obviously, is good for all of us because we can go by its public default setting, very easy to deal with.
Quake3A is a very good benchmark. As we know it is good for your own personal bench, to test/compare your own system overclock settings. And there is no extreme fluctuations in FPS like 3dmark loves to do.. Consistency on the Q3A is... awesome. =)
I need to load up Q3A bench and start using it again.. to check out my system performance.. I loved Q3A... and still love it.

OK guys we need a yardstick:
everyone bench lowest possible settings 640x480...
then bench default configuration, just run it
then bench everything at the max 1600x1200
Average the three FPS, and post your final result. :)
