Hi, I'm wondering if you have APIC disabled or enabled at high clocks and high fsb. Please tell me what your setup is(was). Thanks! ;)

i had to disable this to go over 2480mhz, with apic disabledi reached 2800 with my thoroughbred 2600+.
I had 2*256 mushkin black level II bh5

APIC disabled gave me 265FSB, before I could reach 240.
APIC is essential for me for high FSB but also the L12 mod on my mobile.

I'm stuck at 220fsb for some reason, I tried both L12 mods, 100 different BIOS, vdimm mod, vdd mod, what to do ? I know my ram does 260mhz.

i dont hav a prommy but maybe this will help you

BIOS: D24_4247_ED
Vtt mod (cut trace method) + heatsink on Vtt MOSFET
APIC Disabled
L12 to 166 for Mobiles, or 200 for other CPUs
Sink the SB
Disable: "Enhance PCI Performance", "CPU Disconnect", All Spread Spectrums, etc

I was running 11.5x246 when I had my nf7-s. Worked like a charm. But it heavily depends on your board... I have several boards that did not accept more than 2V at 246fsb... but my best one took 2.06V :D

1. found the best BIOS for me, D24 3DLite
2. thinking of vtt mod, but is it already needed at 3.1vdimm ?
3. no mod, no sinkage ;)
4. APIC is disabled
5. did L12 200Mhz mod
6. don't think SB is getting too warm
7. all disabled

Errr I just recoqnized some instabilities during Windows installation. The cause was the hooked up vdimm mod, it was only set to 3v, is this because I have no VTT ? If yes then, could someone gimme a pic of that mod, cause the "VTT mod" thread is a bit confusing with 17 pages

Doing the vtt mod is risky.. if it isint set to exactly half the vdimm you often can't boot, and some boards don't survive the mod. IMHO just set the vdimm to 2.9 in the bios (= 1.45vtt) and it's not too bad.

It's not that I have too much money, but I know where to get some and I don't think I'll kill a board anymore with soldering action. ;)

hey,

i did the nf7-s vtt mod the first day i got the board successfully :)

as for it not booting if it's not 1/2...

mine still boots even if it's not exactly 1/2
