Hello,
I have a serious problem with my project. Its suppose to be a physics project dued on FRIDAY, but its not working. When I filled it with static pressure and turned it on, the suction side doesn't seem to be pulling a suction. Also, high side isn't building up pressure. The compressor is running but nothing seems to work. Could there be something with the capillary tubing?? Also, could my compressor be broken and not capable to pull a suction anymore???? Please help, this project will greatly affect my grade.

leak?

How much of a static charge did you put in it? Is it holding the static charge? Did you pressure test it for leaks?

If the compressor is pumping up pressure,it is also creating a suction at the same time:stick:

I think your gonna flunk.:(

Post a pic of the system, How many tubes are coming out of the compressor?

Unless you are working with very high pressure refrigerant in a cascade system, static charging is not the way to do it.

i put around 20 psi static into suction line and turned it on to see if it will work, but the low side doesn't seem to be pulling a suction (stays the same) and the high side isn't building up pressure. Also, i checked for leaks and it doesn't seem to be leaking...

Are you sure the compressor is running?

yes i am certain, i can hear it running.... can the compressor be the fault?

If your low side pressure is 20psi with the compressor off, and stays at 20psi with the compressor running, then the compressor isn't pumping. This would be very strange. Even a bad compressor will do some pumping. Are you sure your gauges are connected properly and the hand valves on the manifold closed?

well... i got desperate and cut off the compressor from the evaporator and condenser. When i turned it on, the compressor doesn't pull a suction anymore and the high side is building pressure.

it only makes a noise like its running, but it doesn't pull suction nor build pressure. Weird, maybe the compressor is defective...

If it doesn't suck, then it really sucks. Toss it.

too bad... it worked a couple days ago.... Have any ideas why it wouldn't suck anymore???

LOL
Thats a bad joke just waiting to happen :)

If its truely running it will have Amp Draw.

I've seen a few with jamed pistons and broken rods... poor thing just humming along. But never a factional hp.
Have had a 1/3hp motor cut off 1/3 of a nuckel and split the bone in two length wise.. So I'd say the chance is there.
