hiya all glad to be here on this knowledgable forum,

I have read quite a number of threads from some of the users on this board and I must say there is alot of knowledge to be reaped here;) I have many questions and probably only some of you would be willing to answer them but we'll see eh. I first started exploring about this whole phase change thing 3 days ago and thats when I started investigating into AMD(allways been intel buyer), mobo's, overclocking, phase change cooling units etc and I had first started asking all my questions on a forum called Anandtech, there the responses were far and few between and it still left me pondering:( Then I found following forum which was very willing and helpfull to share its knowledge,

http://www.overclocking.com/forums/ftopic7568.html

helas as it is common in OC'ing land alot of confusing matters have slipped in, and if any of you here with the knowledge and skill to clear some of these matters up would be so kind as to skim through above post I would really appreciate it. Problems are better solved using many brains than fewer. The site carries not one single banner or nasty popup so its safe to travel to.

Thnx so much for your time and hope any of it can be cleared up,

Computernoob

EDIT : I am referring to above site cuz thats where i secondly started to ask all my questions, many of the questions I had have been answered in that thread but further down my post on that forum other questions and inclarities arise, its these I would like to know more about.

I dont like forums that are part of stores.

Hang around here, you'll like it.

Start in the AMD forums first to find you board you are looking for and the chip.

I know when someone is selling me something don't worry, what I do like is people that know their     are just friendly against a noob who doesn't know so much;) I already bookmarked this site and the overclocking.com so I will visit both in the coming months;) Not everyone on that forum belongs to a store, the moderators do it yes to support their site, as long as they don't slap the banners in my face thats cool.

I already read here and on overclocking.com that I should not be worried about the vapochill LS or Mach II units failing cuz apparently they won't and can easily be used 24/7. Correct me if I am wrong ofcourse. What I gather from all this is that I have to look at these vapochill/mach units as a refridgerator, and when i do that I think of my refridgerator and that hasn't shut down for the 4 years it is standing in my kitchen;) Hope that equasion goes, if not clarify it for me.

With nventiv bankrupt I think I will go for a Vapochill LS unit, from what I read here their support seems very good. Anyone care to comment on that, again feel free.

I was planning on buying an AMD 64 to use with my Vapochill but right now I have decided it would be a dumb thing to do with all the nice 939 mobo's coming soon. Guess I will use the vapochill with my current Northwood P4 2.8 and see how that works so I can get a feel for things. What do you think I can accomplish knowing my specs are as follows,

Pentium 2.8Ghz 533FSB Northwood
Gigabyte SINXP1394
2x512Mb of Samsung DDR400/PC3200
350 Watt Enermax Whisper
Asus Radeon 9800pro 256Mb
Scsi CHEETAH X15-36LP (Bootdrive)
Seagate 160Mb Cheetah (Storage)

Anyone care to wager what I could safely get for speeds with that vapochill LS?? What settings should I apply in my mobo to get that speed??

Thnx to all who respond, means alot for poor noobie me;)

i'll be surprised if you managed 3.2ghz underphase change lol

its your mobo thats the prob.

otherwise you should get about 3.7ghz cosidering its an old chip:p:

its sad there are no other options. the the vapo LS is a great product. plus the kit is universal AMD/INTEL.

What problem does the motherboard pose then, could you elaborate plz?? I know its only a 533Mhz board and a 533Mhz processor but I don't know what you mean exactly???

I am planning on getting a new CPU/mobo but want to try with my current setup first.
