P4 2.66GHz, pin is broken...

a friend got a P4 2.66GHz, but a pin broke off, for what is this pin ?

gonna have to look at some intel documents on that.

i have a 2.8c someone sent me with 2 pins pulled from the substrate.i was all set to do some micro soldering or such.

popped it in prior to surgery on a fluke hunch and it booted fine.
2 missing pins and it lives!
many are non used but try and boot it before you go trying a fix.

I had a missing pin before and no problems. I had one broke in a month ago. I put cut a piece off a Staple. put it in the socket so it was sticking a hair out. Fired it up and works fine.

if your lucky its just one of the many pins for ground or vcore...
