Ok...first of all i would like to send out my greetings to all the members and the mods ..and would like to say that this is a great forum.....I have been reading the posts for about 2 weeks now and its been lots of fun......so much fun that it has got me thinking......

Well see i am also one of those smucks that thought that changing from a northwood to prescott would be cool.....and voila what do i have idle 54C and load 69C.....yepz......forget about it when you want to encode mpeg2......anyways i was searching about cooling and i came accross this wonderful forum.......having read the postings have gotten me excited and yes that right I wanna buy phase change cooling.

Now maybe i should first say that i have chosen for Nventiv Mach 2. So this is for sure (money wise i cannot spend more ;) ).......however i was wondering whether you nice gentleman might be able to help me out with some decisions i need to make and questions i have ......

Questions
1) I see alot of people posting about cooling their cpu ..with mach 2 and vapochill. These people hit OC@ like 4.2 ..however ....what are they using for cooling their GPU and northbridge. Do you guys use nothing at all ? If you do can you give some ideas on what i bcould buy?

2) This is my setup so far .....i guess i might need to sell my current memory and buy new ones so what should i get ...thats compatible with my motherboard.....i guess i am asking for input from ic7-max3 owners for this one......since i have seen so many different post on this issue.

System so far:

Mobo: IC7-Max3

Proc: 2.8 Ghz P4 Prescott (CPU-Z says Revision C0)

Memory:

2 x 512 Twinmos Dual Channel DDR 400
Type : DDR-SDRAM PC3200 (200 MHz)
Size : 512 MB (2 rows, 4 banks)
Module Buffered : No
Module Registered : No
Width : 64-bit
Error Correction Capability : No
Max. Burst Length : 8
Refresh : Reduced (.5x)7.8 µs, Self Refresh
Voltage : SSTL 2.5v
Supported Frequencies : 200 MHz
CAS Latency (tCL) : 2.5 clocks @200 MHz
RAS to CAS (tRCD) : 3 clocks @200 MHz
RAS Precharge (tRP) : 3 clocks @200 MHz
Cycle Time (tRAS) : 8 clocks @200 MHz

VGA:

Radeon 9600 XT (V350) ( i guess this should be good enough right)

3) I have never oc'd before ..so i gues i'll have to play around with the settings at the bios ..however ...are the people with mach 2 here and with ic7-max3 that can tell me what the essential settings are ........:) ..heheh I guess since i am a newbie here i need some advice on voltage setups ..myabe a guide :) heheh ......damn confusing at first al them vdimm and vtt stuff :)

I guess that the motherboard should be fine enough, if i get good memory i am guesing that i should be able to hit aroung 4.1 easily.....with a mach 2 and pressy (from the other postings that i have seen on the forum with prescotts)........

So anyways ....ideas and tips are welcome ....i guess i am looking for some guidance .....thank you for taking the time to read this posting :toast:

Greetings

The MachII is a good choice for a start. Cooling your gpu can also be done with a phasechange, I have seen systems here where the machII is on teh cpu and waterblocks are on teh othercomponents...
