I got my new KX7-333 and XP1600+ today

XP1600+ was an AGOIA 4 running nicely at 1796(171x10.5)mhz, but the KX7 was an OLD black Rubycon caps version rev 1.0. I got so pissed off i almost threw it out immediately, but then i remembered that i bought it as an "exhibition ware(used in the front window of the store), and had no warranty :(

anyways

The real problem is my Siluro Ti4200.It would run in my brothers comp at 330/640 mhz no problem. Could run 3DMark all day if i wanted to. Moved it to my comp again, now it wont do more than 311/612?? The only difference was the mobo, same PSU. Tried letting the card cool down, ran the CPU at stock speeds, no good. Could this be the card not getting enough power from the AGP slot?

This is what i got with everything maxed:

Oh and btw, my TBird wouldnt run Ultra CPU Decode at all, my XP runs at 171 fsb

Wish I had an answer for ya. PC parts can do strange things sometimes. I know that when I upgraded from a G2 to a G4 I had to add about .05v to my CPU to make it stable at the same clock. Weird stuff.

Hopefully one of the KX7 specialists can help ya out :)

What board is in your brothers comp??

A KT7A...The voltages on my KX7 are all over the place. from 4.75 to 4.95 on the +5v line for example.

DuraN:)

I'm going to tell you what you don't want to hear...but that black Rubycon cap version is probably your problem. They are noted for low voltage and alot of voltage flucuation. The best KX7's are the later models with the Nichicon caps(silver), which have exhibited much higher voltages on all lines. I've had both and a brand new black cap version was the worst of the bunch...I pulled it within days.

That was what i thought.Bought this cheap to have something to play with. I sold my previous KX7 with the silver caps to a m8,thinking to buy a KD7-R. But i changed my mind...:(

Well. I have now found out it is limiting both my video and CPU OC...Placed my XP1600+ in a Epox 8KHA+,ran all the way up to 185 mhz fsb (185x10.5=1942)...thats 150 mhz more CPU clock than on this board.

Cant wait to get that Abit KT400A board!

Update: cant complete 3DMark at higher than 306/607 now. This is going downhill

Update 2: Is the -12 the AGP Voltage? On my MBM dashboard the -12v line reads 1.39v,but thats terribly low for the AGP ?

Yeah, the -12V listed in MBM5 is usually the AGP voltage.

Good gawd !!

Thats the worst AGP voltage I've ever seen on a black cap version. I thought mine was bad hovering at 1.46 to 1.48...whereas my silver cap KX7's hold 1.50v solid as a rock. There is no longer any doubt the voltage regulation on that board is defective.

I got a KX7, anyone got a pic of the black caps versus the silver caps? I'm thinking I probably got the black cap version... The board was v1.0 penned to 1.1, and I seem to be getting a lot worse clock speeds than I expected... especially on my GF4 Ti4600...

OMG im gonna :slapass: Komplett Data tomorrow !

I fell of my chair when i found out that the AGP voltage was actually 1.39v. I think you are right Mr.Icee, its an all time low. Btw, on my previous KX7 it was rock steady at 1.50v. Big difference huh ? No kidding :D

i have alwasy had low voltage on my KX7, and since adding the 9700 it has just got worse.

here is a screenie, the high 5v voltage is a littl worrying, but i am still getting good o/c, well i think i am anyway.
