With better cooling this chip can do something, but doing great on air.
I have run up on that bug, no boot after 1.6v for prescott using p4c800ed.Running at 43c.
Will try the AI7 tomorrow.:D

I was looking at purchasing this processor, and an Abit Max-3, hoping to hit 3.7 with water.

Great cpu, and I have one stopped at home...

DOPE!!!!!

I'll test it on a IC7-G, how does this board works with the 2.4a, does it have that 1.6v "wall" or not, testers reply! :toast:

Best wishes

The IC7 family work PERFECTLY with the Prescotts....up to a nice toasty 1.75V :D
For some reason or another, Asus just doesn't do well w/Pressie
(Unless you happen to be one of those Japanese OC'ers who mod their P4C800's to run correctly)

hi,
yes, your chip is nice.
interestingly with the ai7, but possibly ai7 is not so good for pressi like the other abit-4-phase.
could be the same score.

i have this chip too, see pic. running on droop-modded p4p800 and is7-e rev1.2.
on p4p800, vrm is near to a grill-party. :D
on is7-e running absolutely easy this chip, but the chip is'nt as good.
doing 3500 prime under water on 1,55v.
lapped this sucker a bit.

that is very nice, I think I just killed the chip in the p4c800.Asus boards do not like prescott chips.
I was playing dod running cpu at 150fsb at default volts, it just shut down, when i boot it it says cpu failed system test.
Will leave it off with no power for a couple hours.
The last pressie I had ran ok in a ai7 up to 1.64v, so they are not vey good in the AI7.
If this pressie is still alive tomorrow I will try the AI7.:D

Nice results, althes. If you get your CPU working again, you should try this HSF, now being shown off at Computex in Taiwan. You could have the first motherboard that flies. :D

My 2.4a prescott wont go past 3.6 on air. And way higher temps than yours. You must got a better newer cooler stepping.

running at 1.5v on the AI7 now.
Will try to do some more testing tonite.
This chips rocks on air.
If I had prommy it would do 4ghz with ease.

Thanks Charlie, so you say I should not have problems with the 2.4a and the IC7-G.

On air wich max volt do you advise? Thanks for the reply.

I hope to put some screen after the test.

If all goes well then I'll try in my P4C800 Dlx chilled system.

Best wishes

Hi,

I picked up my 2.4a Pressie and the IC7 and booted only to Bios, I have to get a disk to install windows, but I've been trying to get some overclock from this cpu.

When I booted up, the temperature was around 51º with auto voltage set and a Termalright SLK800 and a Enermax 92´fan, what do you think about this temps.

Overclocking the "guy" it reached 166 FSB smoothly but when tryed to go to 180 FSB it hangs and don't even "Posts".

Can you give me some feedback on the values.

Thanks in advance

Hope to year from you.

Jorge Lopes

A couple quick things.....
1) do you have latest IC7 BIOS?
2) rememeber these things get like 90% of their OC at low volts. So since the IC7 undervolts the core a bit, set it to 1.45v and shoot for about 180ish...maybe higher.
3) and yeah, they run hot but don't seem to mind.

definitely need the latest ic7 bios, and just follow charlie's directions. You will be fine.

this 2.4a surely kicks my 2.4b's ass :D

do you guys think 2.4a's are better than 2.4c's, just wondering if i should get one to test it or not.

i think clock for clock they are slower

althes

Very true, only if you scale them high will they be better
