SO close. I am sure I'll be able to hit 28k without mods or os tweaks. Holy cow, my sliders were not even set to performance.
Question:
Will I pick up a few points if I run Windows 2000, shut off unnecessary services, and disable unnecessary hardware in the BIOS? What else might help (besides vmods, etc???).
Thanks in advance.
These X800-Pro's are very nice!:toast:

Yes:wiggle:
U do know that 3dmark01 Carlow isnt the exact same run...
When the car hits the barrel in the turn its ALWAYS different... My FPS was swaggering with 8... Pretty insane... Try to run Carlow a couple of times and check it out...
But win2k helps... Otherwise OC your CPU a bit more??? 2.4Ghz isnt super much... Is it? But i would run car low a bit more... My score went from 21350-21500... Same clocks just ran the test about 20 times(Only car low)
Heck who knows mayB car high does the same???

Thanks guys.
How much should I expect from Win 2k and the other stuff in terms of increased 2k1 score if I go to the trouble to change all the settings, etc...? Some very heavy hitters have told me things. One of them says he doesn't think Win 2k runs 3DMark any faster than Win XP. Another said that he just boots into Windows and runs the test without tweaking suggesting that he didn't believe OS tweaks really help much. I've not really done much testing but I at least have to consider what these people say since they are almost always at the top of the ORB.
BTW, I noticed 3 obvious cheat scores in front of mine and they've been there for awhile. If they were not there I'd be #32 in the world overall on 3DMark2001. Not bad for stock aircooling, and I am pretty confident I can break 28k on air w/o mods.
I plan on going for 28k+ on Memorial Day. I would do it this Saturday but I have a room at The Mirage in Vegas and won't be back until late Sunday night.
Cheers!:toast:
EDIT: Thanks Crankster, but AMD and ATI did the hard part.
Card clocks: 540/580:banana:

sweet and to say those laughed at me when I said 30k air cooled will become easy with s939! set all sliders to performance, use a fresh install of win 2k, best ram timings and there you go, 28k easy on an x800 pro too!

28k is not easy, just very doable if you know anything about overclocking. 30k is another story completely.
The 939 pin A64 chips run just about the same as the 940 and 754 for the same ratings. Maybe when 4000++'s or higher are available and the 6800 Ultras get rolling (assuming they are not suffering from the same syndrome the 5800, 5900 and 5950 do) 30k on air may become commonplace.
If I can ever get this damn 16 pipe mod to work maybe 30k will be doable on air.

SUCCESS...
100% Air, no tweaks except OC on CPU and VC.
I believe that makes me #1 on air at the moment....gloat,gloat, etc...
