not sure if it's beta or not, but it's not a simple install, it takes 2 patchs and then the install to actually complete.
I am about to install it now myself.

incase any one is feeling adventurous, I thought I'd post this here too.

Installation Instructions:
(1) boot into safemode.
(2) Install Direct X 9.0c executable.
(3) Install Hotfix.
(4) Install the Registry Patch.
(5) Reboot.
(6) Click Start. Click Run. Type dxdiag.
(7) Verify it has been installed under the system tab.
(8) You're finished.

Well the official deal would be on microsofts website so it must not be.

Anyone gonna try it?

Kunaak

I tried it and it is indeed 9c

heres my first few minutes impressions.
first of things are MUCH smoother looking, all the jags are gone from 3dmark2003 even at no AA or AF, it's like AA and AF are on already, but theres no performance loss....

second, this is alot faster.

with DX9b I get about 8900 on 3dmark2003 at default.
with DX9c I get 9220 at default.

thats a hell of an upgrade for a simple direct X upgrade.

here you can see in my 2003 score that it is showing at 9.0C\

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2570472

so it does indeed work.
and gives a few benifits in the mean time.

:D

sweet, you think my fx 5200 would benefit from this? im actually meant to have my fx 5900xt, but it still hasnt been delivered... grrr.

Kunaak

I really can't say who would benifit from this.
honestly I think anyone with a DX9 card would.
the X800 doesn't support much of anything different the a 5900 or 9800 pro does.

the biggest difference is PS 3.0 but the X800 doesn't support that only the 6800 series does.

That's what I was thinking.

How is it affecting your connection?

ping on unreal2k4 has to do with more than just internet connection.
you can test this by playing with your ram latency and your gpu overclock. ping is basically your system as awhole although connection is a great deal of it. ive only noticed this on unreal 2004 online. weird huh.

DirectX 9.0C is part of Windows XP SP2 Build 2126. Apparently someone figured out a way to remove it from SP2 and offer it as a seperate download.

Im guessing that's what the Hotfix is for and Registy Patch.

I've got SP2 on one computer, and put it on a customers. That lives downstate from me.

I cant connect to his with remote connection anymore. The new security in his email he can Download or see a lot anymore. He has to use his Daughters computer to get half his mail.

Im guessing security settings are way to high. I used to connect to his to fix minor stuff.

He saw SP2 on my FTP server and downloaded and installed. Now i wish he didnt. Problems, problems and Problems. Im about to wipe it for him. He ran disk cleanup and removed the SP2 uninstall program. Now i gotta work!! i hate work.

it didnt effect anything about my score

maybe it needs ps2.0+ to make effect my 9800pro with ps2.0 only got 10 points increase but fx series cards which has ps2.0+ might gain more points

i just installed it now. I can honestly say i can notice a huge increase in IQ in 3dm2k3. havent tried any games yet, will do soon. I dont know about scores though, dont have anything from dx9.0b to compare with, but i feel safe saying it has actually improved a little bit

Umgawa

Is DX9.0c cheating are using optimizations to get these improvements.

Doesnt it say For WinXP ONLY? :D
It might work with 2003 Server (havent tried), but its unlikely that it would work with 2000, because these OS are quite different. I ripped those files from WinXP SP2 v2126 install, so you cant expect it to be perfect.

For those who are getting the file for first time, dont dowload from original link, because its old version. Instead of it you should download the final version from here (http://mbnet.fi/elixir/DX-9.0c.exe). This file includes all hotfixes, except .version fix (reg file) (http://mbnet.fi/elixir/Version-Fix.reg) , because it cannot be added inside the main file.

For people who have downloaded file from original link, should update their files with lastest hotfix (http://mbnet.fi/elixir/DX-9.0c-Hotfix.exe). It will patch all builds to final version.

Just of to install this, might get me over 1500pts in 3Dmark03 (from 1499, that i can't beat)

Will let you know soon :)

Bundles
05-30-2004, 01:06 PM
Dammit :(

Forgot, i decided to play with the Omega 4.5s earlier, and they are slower than the 4.2s.

Anyway, I got a score of 1382pts earlier today, installed Dx9c and that's went up to 1449pts now

So that's a bonus, but stranger still, is that my machine boots into windows a lot faster, and 3Dmark03 looks a lot better, as well as being faster

Off to play around with some games, see if they look/play any better.
