View Full Version : *** I'll pay for P4C800-E vmods ***

Well here's my situation thus far.....

After having a bad experience with voltmodding (killed my first 9800XT) I ended up deciding NOT to attempt the droop mod with my P4C800-E. I ended up selling the P4C800-E to try and get away from the voltage flux.....but in return I got stuck with an AI7 that suffers from artifacting. :(

So now here I sit.....I'm going to be picking up a 3.2C sometime before this fall and a new motherboard to go a long with it. I was originally looking at picking up an Abit IC7-MAX3, but the vdimm problems, combined with apparent memory compatibiliy issues are still pushing me towards the P4C once again. I have owned both motherboards in the past and overall I DID prefer the Asus to the Abit.....but the vcore droop is something that you can NOT ignore when you're overclocking, and I found it very hard to tolerate.

I have things setup so that I wouldn't have to go over 255FSB or go over 2.8v on the memory with the MAX3.....but that's just no fun. ;)

I am willing to go with another P4C800-E only if I can get someone experienced to do the voltmods for me, and of course they would be payed. I am looking to have the droop mod and the vdimm mod done to the board. The reasoning behind the droop mod is obvious, and I want the vdimm mod done because I recently found out that my OCZ PC4000EL will go as tight as 2.5-4-3-5 at 500MHz.....but I need about 3.05v to keep it "happy". ;)

Now down to business.....I am (obviously) going to pay to ship the board.....and anywhere in Canada or the United States is fine. I do not have any of the supplies (pots and such) to send with the board but here's the thing.....I'm willing to pay someone $100 to do both mods for me.....that's $50 per vmod. Afterwards I can cover return shipping if you would like, which is something that can be discussed at the time.

I'm not really sure what all's involved in using/checking either vmod.....so I'm going to require that the mods be tested to be working (and accurate) before the board is sent back. As long as i can boot it up without frying the board I can do adjustments to the pot when I'm in the BIOS to fine tune things.....but I just need to know that it'll be fine when I power up.

Alright, I think that's pretty much it. Like I said, I'm willing to ship the board to ppl in the States as well as my home country of Canada.....as I don't REALLY need the board until the middle of September for a LAN, so a few extra days for shipping each way is no problem.

Please leave me a post here or PM me if you're willing to help me out with this. I fully realise/remember how nice of a board the P4C800-E is, and I can hardly wait to have one that I can overclock to hell and back.

Hellfire or malves will do it for free or less than the price you said you would pay.

www.malvescorner.com hellfire has a thread going in the services section. Both are reachable by PM.

K, thx for your replies you guys.....I'll go give 'em both a shout then.

FUGGER, do you know from experience? Did you send him the supplies or at least pay for the pots and such? I mean, I have no problem paying for both shipping charges, but I'm just wondering how things worked out for you.....as it sounds like you've got experience with one/both of 'em.

EDIT: Woot for post #100. :toast:

doubt fugger used someone else do to his modz corn, i think he does them all. But there is a HUGE thread in the services section of this forum with plenty of people that have used hellfire.

Both are now known for their good work and honesty. I dont think they would object to a generous tip. Supplies are not that expensive so sending some funds would grease the wheel.

I can reccomend them with confidence.

I do all my mods myself.

Well I do thank you guys for your input, but I have worked things out with Hell-Fire and I'm gonna be "making use" of him 'soon as I'm ready to go. All I can think about now is that P4C800-E with a stable 3.2v memory capability AND a rock solid vcore to boot. ;) :D

I'll be in heaven.....that's all i can really say.

Man, I hope you get there.....as I love passing each and every 1,000 marker. The highest I ever hit with my system (before the voltmod went wrong) was 22.1k.....which was fun. This fall is definitely going to be an interesting time for my comp. Not only will I also be sitting at 4GHz (right along side you buddy) but the 6800U or X800XT-PE will have found it's way into my P4C's AGP slot. ;) Chances are that the card will be the last thing I'll buy, and I'll already have the 3.2C and possible some OCZ PC3500EB to play with by then. ;)

Man, I'm seriously considering upgrading to a PC70 (up from my PC60) so that I'll have the extra room to be able to put togethor a seperate water cooling loop for my video card.....as I sure dont wanna add all that extra heat to the loop for the single fan/rad to deal with. ;)

Be sure to keep me posted on everything, as I have watched your 4GHz setup take shape from the beginning, and I'm looking forward to the next step.
