i am about to buy an lap-top with intel 865pe chipset, dual channel ram 3200, the proc is pentium4 2.8ghz HT. is the processor same as desktop. is it compatible with standart 478 pin socket

I think some of the laptops are socket 423 and not socket 478. For Example like the centrinos.

cpu-z-122 doesn't show the voltage, otherwise the package is mPGA-478 stepping 9 revision D1 brand ID 9. i gotta open it to see...

yep, it is 30 capacitor, week 55 last year. droped it in my asus under phase change and it does clock very high. i swapped the cpu's and now gotta change my signature (he he). very satisfied - 4002 mhz prime95 running together with cpu burn-in, no error so far (2hours).
