Hi guys,
Since this is my first post on this board, i hereby say HELLO!
I want to get a new 3.0 Northwood as my current OC's really bad (3.6 not even stable at 1.6 with droop mod  ). I'm curious if you guys can tell me where to look and what things to keep in mind.
» is there a way to see on the box that the CPU is a 30 capper?
» does the pack date / batch / FPO say something?
» i heard that Intel uses 30 cappers in all their recent examples, is this true? if so, could i safely get one with the most recent pack date?
i would really appreciate if you guys could help me!!!

Hello and welcome SpivX,
SL6WU and SL6WK seems to be the stepping to look out for on the box label for 30 cappers. everything else is Luck. i was very lucky to get a D1 rev 9, Pentium 4 2.8B cpu. i went to the lady and she pulled out the closest box to her and gave it to me. i didn't even know the batch number until i got home and checked on the internet.

I've not seen anything magic with 30 cappers or the notion that that are Failed 3.2EE's.
But if you want one look for the codes above like Kanavit posted.
Good luck

i'd like to hear what you think of this. Could this be one of the Q batch series?

I have a SL6WK with a pack date of 3-2-04, the FPO is L351...
It's a 30 capper that does 4GHz on air with no problem and 1.584v. Recently I bumped it to 4.1GHz, it's stable but the temps are a little high for me.
I'm not sure about the other one you listed.

Well, the CPU is due to arrive on saturday 29th, so this weekend i will bench the bastard and post the results here!
I also made a deal with the supplier. I can return the CPU for a refund if it doesn't OC to my needs

Well, i got it in today and it ROCKS!!!!
It's a SL6WU 30 capper with 1.475 default voltage  Details on the box:
PRODUCT CODE: BX80532PG3000DSL6WU
MM#: 852639
FPO#: 7346B009
VERSION#: C30475-011
PACKDATE: 04/22/04
Now benching @ 4 GHz @ 1.6v (watercooled).... DAMN... Prime95 error. Will up the voltage a bit and then try again
I'm very happy with this one. I'm sure that this thing goes over 4500 with Phase Change
ps the old Northwood suffer from SNDS when voltage is > 1.7v. As this one defaults to 1.475, what should its safe max voltage be? 1.65v?
