View Full Version : Mushkin wasted

My cpu (p4c) maxes out at a dismally unimpressive 2.4@3.2. It is paired with Mushkin lvl2 black 3500 Bh-5 memory (2x256). Anyways, it seems like it's a waste of such good memory, so what are your thoughts? Should I keep em, or just sell em off to someone who'll take advantage of the memory? I probably won't upgrade for another year or two, and by then the bh-5 Mushkin will probably be obsolete, so no use keeping them IMO. I'm torn. What would you guys do?

267mhz with a 5/4 divider you'd be at 213mhz ram speed. I don't see why it's wasted. It's not world's most impressive overclock, but it fits nicely doesn't it? With a better cooler (don't know what you're using) you might be able to pull off an even higher FSB, making the mem run @ or ever over it's rated spec.

If your ram can pull say like 250fsb 1:1 2-2-2-5, sell off your 2.4C and grab a used 3.0C and overclock it to like 240-250fsb.
You can probably sell your 2.4C on ebay for like $140+(maybe) and add like 30-40 dollar more for a used 3.0C(people are selling it in the OCForums) for like $175. That'll put your expensive level II to good use.

$140 on ebay for a 2.4C? If I can bank that much for my cpu, I would. I'll give it a shot, and hopefully someone will take my cruddy cpu off my hands. I have to raise the voltage to 1.65-1.7vcore to even get 3200. Yes, that is sad.
And the mem is pretty decent. It gets pretty high 1:1, not super high, but it's decent (3.2vdimm, 1:1, 245fsb, 2-2-2-5). Anyways, thanks for the advice. I'll try to sell the 2.4c first, and go from there.
