the 3.0C will outrun the pressie in everything but superpi. and the presscrap will run hotter.

either one , u can't lose. it depends on what you are gonna do with it. Prescotts are more futureproof with SSE3, and EM64T(clackamas), plus it has 1mb cache. while the 3.0C will do everything u ask it to do today with no probs. the 3.0E is about the same price. like i said, u can't lose either way. however i think you will feel better with the 3.0e though.

Kanavit Pimping the Pressie on what MIGHT happen in the future is poor practice at best.. Can't even get software authors to support 64 bit technology, let alone SSE3:rolleyes:

Go with the 3.0C, there is absolutely NO VALID reason to add the prescHOT processor to your computer, unless you want some SPI, or want to bring your cooling to its knees.. The Northwood is faster, cooler, and fully supported NOW.

this is something currently inside our precotts now and can be activated by a bios revision?or is something to be added later to future prescotts?

btw keith77 nice cpu man. on air my 2.8E is stuck at 3.5ghz as my mobo over reports temps im just scared seeing 69c while folding.
my 2.8c reports 58c 3370 mhz @1.65vcore just to show how bad it over reports.anyhow i still like my 2.8E better than the C chip.

so unless you love cooling challenged the C was the way to go.

i would deff say get the 3.0c over the 3.0e unless you have xtreme cooling. i just got one of the 3.0e's and i see no reason to own one over the 3.0c at the same speeds the 3.0e is slower. i ran a few sandra cpu tests using the same mhz to compare the two and what i came up with was interesting to say the least... here check it out you decide....

heres the screen shot of the 3.0c running sandra cpu test at 3800mhz 255x15 1:1 ....

now here is the screen shot of the 3.0e running the same 3800mhz 255x15 1:1... also both cpu's were used in the same mb with the same cooling and the same memory same everything so this test was as fair as it gets...

The prescotts seem to be faster clock for clock than northwood on ATI chipsets than Intel i875/i865.

verry nice indeed. now just a mater of waiting for ati to make a non integrated video mother board? looks like theres hope for the preschott after all? i may just hang on to my 3.0E now that i see someone is actualy going to make a chipset that favors the preschott.....

thx perc,

LOL, kind of like waiting for SSE3, or psuedo 64 bit Clackamas technology, I certainly wouldn't buy into the technology on promises, and possibilities. And I'm more than happy with my 3.0C..
