Best intel CPU?

Well a lil cool story behind this...My friend knows this really rich girl, and her laptop was "Broken" so she wanted to sell this laptop for 100$

my friend was about to pawn his two guitars for it whenver I told him i'd lend him the money. Well, he gave me one guitar for FREE and is going to pay my money back.Well he got the laptop he formated the laptop and it runs great! just had a ton of crap on it and It took 5 minutes to boot to windows.
He wants a faster for it. What is the best proccesor to get?

he can get 468 socket proccesors i'm pretty sure.

I don't see why it woudln't be upgradable though.

You CAN NOT stick desktop CPU's into a laptop. Also lookin at the specs the 128mb RAM is the weak point, buy a 256mb or a 512mb stick and you're good to go

Satummoo, just look for a 400mhz p4 and you'll be fine. If the same model lappie (Inspiron 1100) has come out with the processor you'd like/buy it'll work.

Err. Of course you can. Desktop chips are widely used in notebooks. Just think about it, why would an Athlon XP mobile run in almost all socket A boards if it weren't possible? It just depends on the bios of the laptop if it will accept the desktop processor.

IT doesnt say the dell is a Mobile chip so it's a regular desktop cpu. I've changed probably 5 Laptop cpu's before. P3's, Durons to xp's. and a celeron to a P4.
