Hi Guys i got this 3000+ athlon64 which i bymistake bent a pin.....

I havent yet tried to Straighten it up.... afraid i would break... but if it does break is there any chance or mod i can do to get the processor running...

Some ideas of mine:-

break the pin and Straighten the pin and put it into the motherboard and place the processor back in and try booting....

What do thing i should do?? Dont tell me to throw it out the window or something cause i already killed a A64 3200+ and i havent come out from that shock still....:(

I need suggestion fast guys.... pls help

Thanx inadvanc3e for all ur help:)

Just bend it SLOWLY and GENTLY back with flat headed screwdriver. If you do it GENTLY it wont break.

Try it with a razor blade. Because it's sharp it's small, screwdriver may be too big.

When your werking very carefull you've got a good chance it will work again.

If it breaks by accident you may be lucky if it's a pin that's not connected. Though I don't believe that AMD listes as NC in there datasheet are really not connected, but if it's a pin that's used for ground my might have a very small change the proc will word without that pin.

Once you get it somewhat straight, then use a credit card to align all the pins.

try breaking the pin off, then put a peice of wire in the socket where the pin would go, so that when the cpu is in, contact is made.

seriously, what did you expect people to say besides, "carefully bend it back". :stick:

er....i dunno, a peice of wire...may have to much resistance

very likely will.

Bend it back extremely gently. If it breaks send it to me and i'll solder a new one on ;)

heat the chip up a bit ...(warm/hot metal is more flexible and wont break as easily) THEN bend it ;)

Thanx for all the suggestion..... i heated the chip with a match stick(the pins turned alittle dark though) and used a razor to bend it back and It is alive.....I was really afraid i would break itv

I will post the pics soon....:D

Thanx soo much guys....:toast:

btw do u think all that the processor needs is a connectivity between itself and the socket and what makes the connectivity doesnot matter????

I think it needs the exact pin and anyother pin slighty different will not work...

What do u think??

boshi, Have u done that with an AXP or A64???

If it is with an A64 then i got this 3200+ Athlon64 here that needs atleast 20pins to get it working maybe i can try that wire trick:D

Lost the pins due to the lack of Delectrick greese when using prometia cooling:(
