moved it to the amd section. next time at least add a sentence wich includes "overclocking" when you post in xtreme overclocking :D or post it in the right section, thx :D

there u go, a refurbed 244 for $293, i got both of my 244s through the refurb section, about 3 months apart, the only problem i see with this one is u cant tell if its a CEP or a CC0 because it was originally a retail version

also, saw something interesting in amd tech docs, they're showing CG stepping opterons from x40 to x50 each series (1xx 2xx and 8xx), if u see AT(1xx) AU(2xx) or AV(8xx) at the end of its opn, then your a winner =)

Hmm... I remember people talking about these cpu's only running pc2700 back in the day. Has that changed or can overclocking methods overcome it?

Do they require registered ram?

Are they DualDDR capable?

Do any dual opteron boards have overclocking options?

all opteron boards support cool n quiet, something like speedstep wich can be controlled through amds user interface in windows, or you can use crystalcpu.

the msi dual opteron board has a lot of ocing fucntions including htt voltage tweaking.

and the 2700 issue was an early bios problem afaik.

So I can run two of these 1:1 with memory and overclock them with a windows program? Ok, good.

What about dual ddr and registered memory?

yes, they can do dual ddr 3200 and use registered memory, for the msi board ocing is tough, no pci/agp lock, the only voltage options on it seem to be memory up to 2.65v thats with opterons, the athlonfx's might allow more when inserted, cool'n'quiet doesnt seem to have been implemented on it, if your looking to oc, the board most people are waiting for is the iwill dk8n, nforce3 250 based dual opteron board, apparently due some time within the next month, its supposed to be shown at computex, hopefully full specs, details, and if we're lucky, a users manual

how big a cpu (opteron) would be sufficient for a nice littel gaming machin? would 2x244 be ok with a X800XT ´cause the 248´s a tad pricy!
