hello,
since i'm stuck with this old fellah :D , i was wondering what speeds you may have reached with a 2.8b. I'd like to max this one out. It's a SL6HL from Malay.
here's a screen:

I already got it @ 3.2 with boxed intel cooler, but it was quite instable. I just installed my SP-94 / Enermax 92mm and the temps are much lower atm, 38°C.
And the droop on my P4C800 doesn't make things easier.
I know this rig is a little not-to-date :D. Was just curious for your old results.
Note: i use 2x 512mb Twinmos PC-2700 with 60B chips on it.
greetings,

i've got a couple of 2.8b stepping c1
one did 3ghz and another did 3.4ghz on stock heatsink.

Could u give more info about the 3.4Ghz chip?
What voltage did u ran thru it?

it was handpicked cpu which defaults to 1.475.
2.8@3.4 used 1.55vcore, i was limited because was using an old 845 mobo.

3.4 @ 1.55Vcore, that's a nice cpu :slobber:
I think i'll just pick up a 3.0C or any other suggestions?
thx for the replies

i think D1 stepping are better, i heard someone got 4ghz with them. mines is d1 stepping btw, except i haven't o/ced yet.
oh come on man! OC that thing! its like torturing it not running at its max:)

In my experiences, the C1 steppings has been better. I havent had a 2.8b, but Ive got a 2.4b C1 that will do 3.4 on 1.50 vcore, and I've had it to 3708 mhz at 1.65 vcore. I've also had a 2.66b D1, Its max was 3450 stable at around 1.65 vcore. This is all done with alpha 8942 heatsink and thermaltake smartfan 2. Gonna put some dry ice on the 2.4 this weekend and see what it will do.

Hehe, that's the sprit :D
Kanavit, your 2.8B will certainly reach 3.0Ghz stable. Why don't you give it a try.

I'll post some results tonight.

Kanavit O/C your CPU - go go go go go! Maybe you can get 3.4 Ghz out of it too.

nah, i wonder why my 2.8b is running at 1.6v? i have it set at default in bios. isn't it suppose to be lower? like 1.525v?

That's because of the droop,   :banana:ty voltage controllers.
The difference between idle and load can be major.
So if you set it @ default in the bios, the voltage will rise of the cpu is idle.

I had a 2.8B, but it was a bad overclocker.
It did 3400Mhzs in my old WaterCooling setup and 3800Mhzs r404a Prommy cooled, nothing special....

This ain't bad, very impressive if u ask me. Northwood with 533mzh FSB weren't designed to reach such high speeds. Unlike the Prescott, wich reaches 4.5ghz pretty easily.
